Brad Bender Will Run For Southampton Town Board Again In 2013

Jun 6, 2012 11:23 AM

Northampton resident Brad Bender is already making plans for a second run at a seat on the Southampton Town Board in 2013, after narrowly losing in 2011 to Councilwoman Christine Scalera.

Mr. Bender will host a breakfast at his house with Democratic Town Councilwoman Bridget Fleming—his running mate last year and now a candidate for the State Senate—this Saturday. Suggested $25 donations to attend the breakfast will go to the Friends of Brad Bender for Southampton Town Board 2013.

Mr. Bender, an Independence Party member, lost the election last year to Ms. Scalera, a Republican, by just 113 votes. Ms. Scalera held an 85-vote lead over Mr. Bender in votes cast at the polls on election night but Mr. Bender did not concede the race until the county finished counting some 700 absentee ballots more than two weeks later.
