The Long Island Environmental Voters Forum Announces Endorsements

Oct 21, 2019 12:14 PM

The Long Island Environmental Voters Forum has announced its endorsement of candidates running for office on the East End.

For the Suffolk County Legislature, the Voters Forum has given their endorsement to Suffolk County Legislator Al Krupski.

In the elections for Southampton supervisor and town council, the Voters Forum made only one endorsement: John Bouvier for town council. “Councilman Bouvier was endorsed for his outstanding work on water issues, including establishing a Water Quality Board to review and implement water quality infrastructure projects as well as the launching of the Southampton Town residential septic system replacement with a townwide rebate program to offset residents’ costs of installation. He continues to lead by example by implementing sustainable policies to combat climate change and the effects of sea level rise, expand coastal resiliency, and working with government at all levels to protect and restore our local natural environments.” said Richard Amper, chairman of the Voters Forum.

In East Hampton, the environmental group endorsed the reelection of both Supervisor Peter Van Scoyoc and Town Board member Sylvia Overby. “Supervisor Van Scoyoc has demonstrated his commitment and effectiveness acquiring open space, in protecting our water, and transitioning away from fossil fuels to address climate change,” said David Reisfield, executive director of the Voters Forum.

The Long Island Environmental Voters Forum is a nonprofit, non-partisan grassroots organization created to identify, recruit, endorse and support pro-environment candidates for public office.
