East Hampton Veterans Honored In Main Street Parade On Monday

Nov 11, 2013 1:16 PM

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Everit Albert Herter Post 550, commemorated Veterans Day with a parade in East Hampton Village on Monday morning. Veterans assembled at 9:45 a.m. at the old VFW Post, now London Jewelers. The parade stepped off at 10 a.m. and headed down Main Street. It was followed by a service at the memorial on the Green and a ceremony at the East Hampton Town American Legion Post 419 in Amagansett.

Very disappointing to see how few people actually showed up to this parade. I know it is very short and the ceremony is brief but the people of East Hampton should be ashamed of themselves. Would it really be such a bother to show some appreciation to those who put on a uniform and did their part to defend this nation and its freedoms? Thank you to the Veterans and to those who did attend.
