Self-proclaimed “Prince of Montauk” Dylan Eckardt was arrested by East Hampton Town Police on Monday and charged with DWI involving drugs, as well as multiple traffic violations.

East Hampton Town Police Captain Chris Anderson said Mr. Eckardt, 37, was pulled over on South Etna Avenue in Montauk at 4:20 p.m. for the traffic violations, and was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance. Police would not say what the substance was, but they noted that he exhibited visible signs of being under the influence. He refused all drug tests.

According to one eyewitness, he was pulled over in his SUV by three police vehicles.

Mr. Eckardt was arraigned at the East Hampton Town Justice Court on Tuesday morning, where he pleaded not guilty to a count of driving while under the influence of drugs. He was released from custody after posting $1,000 bail.

The high-end real estate agent and Montauk native recently attained celebrity status after he was profiled in Vanity Fair magazine this month. In the interview, he conceded to texting while driving and bragged about racking up seven tickets in the last two months.

“All the cops know who I am,” he told the Vanity Fair reporter. “No one is going to say shit to me.”

Mr. Eckardt is reportedly responsible for an abundance of high-profile real estate deals in the past year, including the sale of Trail’s End, a restaurant in Montauk. However, his comments in publications like Vanity Fair have left many Montauk natives shaking their heads.

“I dress like a fashion kid from the city, I talk like an asshole, and I surf like a local,” he told Vanity Fair. “I’m the f-----g rock star of real estate. I’m the f-----g prince of Montauk.”

Doesn't sound like a prince?:

"I'm being very, very good with you today,” Dylan Eckardt said to me one recent morning as he careened his Range Rover around a curve off of Montauk Highway. We were headed to Gurney’s, the historically Wasp-ified hotel on the eastern tip of Long Island, when Eckardt had conceded to dispense with his habit of texting while driving. For the morning, anyway. Cops had already written him seven tickets in the last two months, he told me. “All ...more

"In some ways, Eckardt seems cognizant of this newfound status. After we arrived at Gurney’s, he walked out of the Range Rover and took a gander at the ocean rolling into shore before heading into the gym. “There’s nothing like me,” he said, tucking his shaggy hair behind his ears and maneuvering toward an elliptical machine. “I dress like a fashion kid from the city, I talk like an asshole, and I surf like a local. I’m the fu**ing rock star of real estate. I’m the fu**ing prince of Montauk.”

just sit back and watch him implode. Hopefully he doesn't kill someone before he does. Actually, I hope he hits me in my '95 Dodge Diesel. There will be one HELL of a lawsuit. All of the evidence I'll need is in print.

Self proclaimed prince of Montauk. Rock star of real estate and he hires Trevor Darrell and not Eddie Burke as his attorney. Guess he is not that much of a rock star of real estate or prince of Montauk. Because all the big guys hire Eddie Buke.

Obviously you don't know that Trevor Darrell, Esq. is a fine attorney and well respected in East Hampton. Smart choice.
By 11954GIRL (1), East Hampton on Jun 22, 16 11:31 AM
Speaking for lawnman - the above was not a dig at Trevor. Rather it was a joke regarding how "famous" people who run afoul of the law in Southampton and East Hampton tend to hire Steady Eddie. Think Jason Kidd and Lizzie Grubman

Someone is obviously HIGH on a lot more than himself!
TO BE CONTINUED!!!
Like SCALLOPER said...hopefully he doesn't hurt someone as he spirals downward.
He seems more like the Sean Ludwick of Montauk.

There was nothing wrong with my last comment. The guy is a douche that will wind up hurting someone out on the roads and he won't even care. He says he is local but could care less about what happens out there

By Andrew (11), Calverton on Jun 22, 16 10:31 PM
Read the article and LMAO... talking like that in a magazine article. Why not wave a red flag at a bull while you're at it. Maybe this time the police will hang on to him, make the world safe from the Prince, the judge should give him real jail time and the State should take away his driver's license. Guys like this don't learn. They need to be hog-tied by the legal system before they kill someone innocent.

When you are forced to call yourself a ''prince'' it's because nobody else does.
By SlimeAlive (1181), Southampton on Jun 29, 16 1:26 PM
Prince of losers he is and has always been. Where are the "real locals" to bring this douche back to reality. If it weren't for his 2 younger brothers who are quite the opposite, locals would have kicked him out of town for good. Jersey shore is where he belongs.
