For the second year in a row, East Hampton Little League will feature one of its teams in the District 36 Championships.

The 12-and-under team defeated Moriches Bay, 2-1, in the semifinals on Monday evening at Pantigo Park to advance to the district final against Longwood, which defeated North Shore in the other semifinal, also played on Monday. East Hampton and Longwood will lock up this Wednesday, July 10, at the North Shore Little League Complex on Route 25A in Rocky Point at 5:45 p.m. The winner of that game will move on to sectionals. The tournament ultimately leads to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Results of Wednesday’s game can be found on 27east.com and in next week’s issue.

Monday’s game was scoreless through three innings before East Hampton was able to scratch across two runs in the fourth. After Carter Dickinson doubled and Hudson Beckmann walked, Liam Cashin laid down a bunt and was able to reach first base safely to load the bases. Leandro Abreu then sent a double to right field which scored both Dickinson and Beckmann to give East Hampton a 2-0 lead.

Dickinson started on the mound and held Moriches Bay in check, for the most part. A few errors in the fifth led to the lone run for Moriches Bay. Dickinson pitched into the seventh inning, but with one out and just five pitches remaining on the 85 pitch-count limit, Tyler Hansen came in to get the final two outs of the game.

East Hampton’s 12U team lost to Riverhead in the district finals last season, but this year’s team is basically a new squad. Most of the players won the 10U district title last season. This year’s team includes Leandro Abreu, Hudson Beckmann, Andrew Brown, Liam Cashin, Victoreddy Diaz, Carter Dickinson, Tyler Hansen, Livs Kuplins, Hudson Meyer, Justin Prince, Luke Rossano and Bruno Sessler, and are coached by Andrew Rodriguez and Nicole Dickinson.

10U Team Falls In Semis

The run for the East Hampton 10-and-under team came to an end in the district semifinals. It lost, 13-3, to Longwood on July 3. Longwood went on to lose to Riverhead, 4-0, in the district finals on Saturday.

East Hampton manager Michael Hand said his team didn’t play its best game and Longwood took advantage of it. This year’s team included Finn Alversa, Kai Alversa, Luca Biondo, Tucker Bock, Tiger Brew, Jackson Carney, Colten Everett, Kieran Hildreth, Harrison Jenkins, Julian Marin, EJ McAuliffe, Trevor Meehan, Miles Menu and Dennis Ruiz.
