Hearing Rescheduled On Restrictions At East Hampton Airport

Mar 10, 2015 6:33 PM

The East Hampton Town Board hearing on proposed restrictions on operations at the East Hampton Airport has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 12, at 4:30 p.m. at LTV Studios at 75 Industrial Road in Wainscott.

The hearing, originally scheduled for Thursday, March 5, was canceled due to inclement weather.

It will be an opportunity for the Town Board to hear feedback from residents on four proposed resolutions that would restrict operations at the airport as a way to alleviate noise, following years of complaints.

Restrictions would include a year-round nighttime curfew between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. for all aircraft; a year-round nighttime curfew on aircraft classified as “noisy” between 8 p.m. and 9 a.m.; a ban on all helicopters on weekends and holidays from May 1 to September 30; and a limit of one takeoff and landing for “noisy” aircraft per week between May 1 and September 30.
