Hampton Bays Man Charged With Threatening Another Man With Chainsaw

May 22, 2012 11:34 AM

A Hampton Bays man was arrested early Sunday morning after Southampton Town Police said he threatened someone with a chainsaw at the Shinnecock Bay Fishing Station.

Officers said they responded to the station on Shinnecock Road at about 3:19 a.m. to a report of an “unwanted intoxicated subject” and learned that Andrew T. Kristiansen, 45, of Wards Path had wielded a chainsaw over his head and attempted to start it, threatening another man, after a verbal dispute.

Mr. Kristiansen drove off in a gray 2005 Ford F15 pickup truck, but was located a short time later, on foot, on nearby Penny Lane, police said. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a felony, and menacing in the second degree.

He was held at police headquarters for a 9 a.m. arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court that day. Court officials said he pleaded not guilty and was released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court on Friday at 9 a.m.

Once a week? I think never before in Hampton Bays. First time I ever recall a chain saw used.

I enjoy the descriptor "an unwanted intoxicated subject".

Ok so let me have it for being a character witness for this guy.... but hear goes... I used to employ him a few years back, Yes, he is very rough around the edges but not a bad guy ....He would not hurt a fly. If provoked and I am sure he must have been.... he will get surrley but he is not a chain saw killer . lol, Good luck Drew sounds like you should leave the beer alone for a bit. lol

Come on now, it's just a chain saw - it's not like it was a 20-ounce hammer. I mean really!

We are all "nice guys", until you mess with our "family"...

Andrew recently worked for me and did a great job. He is a good man just trying to support his family. He may have fallen off the wagon once in 13 years but He deserves a break.

Falling off the wagon is one thing. Threatening people with a chainsaw? Seems a bit more than a fall.

The specialty drink of the Fishing Station is now "the Chainsaw" - kind of like a screwdriver, but with more "buzz" in it!

A redneck walks into a hardware store and asks for a chain saw that
will cut 6 trees in one hour. The salesman recommends the top of the
line model. The redneck is suitably impressed, and buys it.

The next day he brings it back and says, "This chain saw is defective.
It would only cut down 1 tree and it took all damn day!"

The salesman takes the chain saw, starts it up to see what's wrong, and
the puzzled redneck says, "Heck, what's that noise?"
