Police Seek Help In Nabbing Burglars Of East Quogue Chinese Restaurant

May 23, 2012 8:32 AM

Two burglars busted into a Chinese restaurant in East Quogue earlier this month, making off with $550 in cash, and Southampton Town Police and Suffolk County Police Crime Stoppers are seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating the duo.

A man and a woman broke into the China Delight restaurant on Montauk Highway through a rear door at about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, and stole a cash register containing about $550, police said.

Officers said a security system captured images of the two suspects inside the restaurant after closing. The man is described as being dark haired, approximately 25 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 140 pounds. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt. The woman is described as having light colored hair, being about 25 years old, roughly 5 feet 6 inches tall and of a stocky build. She had a star tattoo between the thumb and index finger on her left hand, police said.

The owner of the restaurant filed an incident report with Southampton Town Police on May 6.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-200-TIPS. Calls will be kept confidential, police said. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
