Brooklyn Woman Arrested For Using Counterfeit Bills At 7-Eleven In Westhampton

Oct 1, 2019 4:52 PM

A Brooklyn woman was arrested after using fake bills to purchase gift cards from a 7-Eleven in Westhampton, police said.

Kaylynn M. Dyer, 30, of Brooklyn was arrested by Suffolk County Police on September 24 for separate charges, but was identified through a Crime Stoppers tip for charges relating to purchasing several gift cards at the 7-Eleven in Westhampton in 2017, using counterfeit bills.

Ms. Dyer entered the 7-Eleven on Mill Road at 6:15 a.m. on May 15, 2017, and tried to pay for multiple items using 11 fake bills. When the store clerk realized the bills were fake, Ms. Dyer — who had bright red hair pulled back with a black bandana — fled the store in a silver BMW, according to authorities.

Last week, Ms. Dyer was turned over to Southampton Town Police and charged with first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony.

Ms. Dyer was processed at Town Police headquarters in Hampton Bays and held for arraignment.
