The Southampton Hospital Association recently donated its third installment of a $50,000 donation to support Good Ground Park in Hampton Bays.

Every year for 10 years, the association is giving $5,000 to Southampton Town to help finance park programming, maintenance and improvements, as a way to benefit the community. The commitment began in 2017, the year the park opened, and will continue through 2026.

The association is a nonprofit corporation that founded Southampton Hospital and oversees the hospital properties — not to be confused with the Southampton Hospital Foundation, the fundraising arm of the hospital.

As part of the donation agreement, the town plans to erect a sign in the park indicating the hospital’s sponsorship of the amphitheater.

The Town Board accepted the donation at its October 8 meeting.

Good Ground Park, located off Squiretown Road in Hampton Bays, was opened to the public in the spring of 2017 and the town has made improvements since then, adding amenities like public bathrooms, a wooded walking trail and playgrounds.

A well-attended concert series is held in the park in the summers and other events are held throughout the year, like Halloween and Christmas activities.
