Car Rolls Into Shinnecock Bay Due To Brake Problem

Nov 16, 2011 10:32 AM

A 2011 Mercedes-Benz was pulled from the Shinnecock Bay in Hampton Bays late Thursday night, November 10, after the owner of the car claimed it rolled into the bay for unknown reasons, Southampton Town Police said.

Town Police Sergeant Todd Bennett said the car rolled into the bay on Dune Road south of the Ponquogue Bridge in Hampton Bays at about 10 p.m. According to Sgt. Bennett, the owner of the car was unaware if the car was put in park before she exited the vehicle, or if she was unfamiliar with the braking mechanism of the car, causing it to not remain locked in park.

The driver was not in the car at the time of the accident and no injuries were reported.

As of Tuesday morning, Southampton Town Police had no additional information on the mishap.

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all drive Porches. I must make amends.

Sure, sure. At least that's what he/she told his/her significant other.

Just another reason to buy American. The brakes on my cadillac work just fine. I pass a Mercedes just as easily too.
