Police: Two Hampton Bays Diner Employees Arrested For Assaulting Patron

Feb 12, 2014 11:40 AM

Two Hampton Bays Diner employees were arrested early Sunday morning for assaulting a patron in the restaurant’s parking lot, according to police.

Javon McCravey, 23, of Amityville and Shawn Diming, 32, of Flanders were arrested by Southampton Town Police at 2:32 a.m. Sunday, and both were charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, according to authorities.

The two men, both security guards at the Montauk Highway diner, got into an altercation with a male patron inside the establishment at around 2 a.m., Southampton Town Sergeant Susan Ralph said. The altercation then was taken outside where Mr. McCravey and Mr. Diming allegedly assaulted the man, she added.

Sgt. Ralph said it is not clear how the altercation started.

Police responded to the scene, as did a Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance, which took the victim to Southampton Hospital to be treated for undisclosed injuries.

Mr. McCravey and Mr. Diming were taken to police headquarters in Hampton Bays for processing and later released on appearance tickets returnable to Southampton Town Justice Court.

Two Arrested For

Alleged Gang Assault

Southampton Town Police, with the assistance of federal marshals, arrested two individuals believed to be involved in a group beating of another person in an undisclosed part of Southampton Town in December.

In a press release issued Tuesday, Town Police announced the arrest of Tina Duffy, 36, of Brentwood on December 20. In the same release, police said that, with the assistance of U.S. Marshals, they arrested Andrew Stricklin, 28, of Wyandanch on January 30. Police did not disclose where they where arrested.

Both are charged with first-degree gang assault and third degree-criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies, according to police.

They also said Ms. Duffy and Mr. Stricklin were part of a group of at least three people who repeatedly struck and “severely” beat another person with a baseball bat during an attempted burglary on December 19.

Town Police Detective Sergeant Lisa Costa did not return multiple calls this week seeking information about the case, including where the attempted burglary occurred, the gender of the victim or if other arrests are pending.

And the owners say they are being targeted.Just like their other club Dreamz. They don't give a crap about their community. And they have the balls to sue the town.Think about that next time you are going out to eat.

Do they have a permit from the Town to operate a night club? Or is it just a diner with a liquor license? Didn't someone get killed in the parking lot a few years ago? Time to pull the plug on this pit!
