Mar 12, 2019 1:43 PM

Salvatore Charles Villareale died, surrounded by family, on March 7, 2019. He was 89.

Mr. Villareale was born on May 5, 1929, in New York City to Giuseppe and Rosina Villareale, both Italian immigrants. Mr. Villareale received his needle trades diploma in June 1947 and for the next 50 years, he worked as a member of the ILGWU Garment Workers Union specializing in women’s gowns. He served in the United States Army as a private first class and was honorably discharged in December 1952.

On June 30, 1963, he married Mary Ann Fatino. In 1975, he moved his family from Brooklyn to Hampton Bays.

Mr. Villareale was an active part of the Hampton Bays community. He was a member of the Hampton Bays Lions Club, was grand marshal of the San Gennaro Feast of the Hamptons in 2016, and he had a special love for dogs.

Survivors said he did things his way. Friends called him a legend, his wife and family called him Charlie, and others close affectionately called him Sal.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann; and his sister, Francis. He is survived by his two sons, Joseph and wife Sandra, and Tony and wife Gisella; his grandchildren, Lucas, Lindsey and Siena; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Scott-Rothwell Funeral Home in Hampton Bays.

Memorial donations may be made to Canine Companions for Independence, 286 Middle Island Road, Medford, New York, 11763; specify Wounded Veterans Initiative Northeast Training Center in the memo.
