
The supervisor said he hoped the beneficiaries would soon be able to help Rockaway and other municipalities enduring post-storm hardships.
To that end, a group called East End Cares is also collecting donations for transport to Rockaway, Long Beach and Staten Island as well as Breezy Point. Again, clothing is no longer needed, although baby and pet necessities, cleanup and medical supplies, contractor bags, dust masks, tarps, flashlights and batteries, wheelbarrows, paper goods, toiletries, fuel containers and toiletries are. A donated Jitney bus took volunteers and supplies west on Tuesday.
Donations can be dropped off at the Montauk Community Church basement from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and in Southampton at the Jitney office in the Omni building.
