Quogue Police Investigating Rash Of Break-Ins Targeting Landscapers

Dec 6, 2017 10:11 AM

Within a span of five days, eight landscaping businesses in Quogue—seven on Commercial Park Drive and another on Industrial Boulevard—have reported that their work vehicles have been broken into and that thousands of dollars worth of equipment was stolen.

The first thefts were reported on the morning of November 20 when two business owners reported that their trailers were broken into and $4,500 worth of equipment was stolen, according to Quogue Village Police.

Quogue Police Lieutenant Christopher Isola said that the other six reported thefts followed the same pattern, meaning that they were targeted in the early morning hours. Five were reported on November 22 and another on November 24. He added that approximately $10,000 worth of equipment was stolen, and that several trailers and vehicles were damaged.

Lt. Isola declined to identify the eight businesses that were targeted.

He noted, however, that the break-ins were not an “isolated problem,” explaining that there have been a number theft and forced entry incidents reported county-wide recently.

Lt. Isola added that police are “aggressively” tracking a number of leads.

I guess the QPD was too busy patrolling private dead end streets to put a squad car by the businesses that have been repeatedly robbed.....

I’m sure in time the QPD will lock up the drug thug who is ripping off these vehicles.
