Garofolo and Madrigal to perform at Bay Street

Sep 1, 2009 12:41 PM

Janeane Garofalo and comedian Al Madrigal will take the stage at Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor this Monday, September 7, at 8 p.m. as part of the theater’s Monday Night Comedy Club. The two have toured together in the past and are traveling to the East End together to perform two separate, individual routines at Monday’s show.

A celebrated entertainer since she first burst onto the scene in 1992, Ms. Garofalo is known both as an actress and as a comedian. Her unflinching honesty has inspired laughs since she joined the cast of “Saturday Night Live” in 1994. She was celebrated for her role as the acerbic talent booker on “The Larry Sanders Show,” for which she received an Emmy Award nomination and two Cable Ace nominations, and television viewers today know her as Janice on Fox’s “24.”

Ms. Garofalo has appeared in many critically acclaimed films, including “The Truth About Cats & Dogs,” “Steal This Movie,” “Copland,” and “Reality Bites,” among others. She has also brought her sharp wit to roles in “Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion” and “The Cable Guy,” directed by her friend, Ben Stiller.

Mr. Stiller and Ms. Garofalo also co-authored the best-seller “Feel this Book.” A controversial radio personality, she was also instrumental in the launch of the liberal radio network Air America Radio, and hosted her own talk show, “The Majority Report.”

Like Ms. Garofalo, Mr. Madrigal has had a successful career in the comedy business. Known for his flair for storytelling and unique, spontaneous and fast-paced lyrical style, he was recognized as Best Stand-Up Comedian at the HBO Aspen Comedy Festival in 2004.

Television viewers may recognize him from his roles on “Chelsea Lately” and “Gary, Unmarried,” as well as his numerous appearances on Comedy Central. He has had guest spots on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and he continues to tour the country, headlining at popular comedy clubs.

Janeane Garofalo and Al Madrigal will perform at Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor on Monday, September 7, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $60 each. For more information, or to purchase tickets, call 725-9500, stop by the theater on Long Wharf, e-mail boxoffice@baystreet.org, or visit www.baystreet.org.

oh please, who would waste their time to listen to this skanky piece of crap? I hope she at least can wash herself and look half way presentable, and maybe have some attempt at being funny?
