One Person Airlifted After Scooter Crash In North Haven

A man was airlifted to the hospital with head injuries after the scooter he was riding was struck by a truck on Route 114 in North Haven on Saturday night.

According to Southampton Town Police the crash happened near the intersection of Rt. 114 and Fresh Pond Road at about 10:20 p.m.

A Suffolk County Police MedEvac helicopter was called in to take the man to Stony Brook University Hospital. Long Beach Road was closed for about 45 minutes around 11 p.m. so the helicopter could land on the roadway.

Police were unable to share further information about the incident on Sunday morning because the crash report had yet to be filed at Town Police headquarters. More details will follow as information becomes available from police.

Road closures and airlifting accident victims has become so commonplace it merits no follow up. Why bother reporting it?
