A conceptual map and plan for a proposed sewer district in Southampton Village is scheduled to go before the Village Planning Commission in a public meeting Wednesday night.

The plan will be presented by H2M Architects and Engineers, a Melville-based firm that has previously put forward an initial concept to the Village Board. The sewer district would encompass mostly the village's business district and serve as a way to not only help business owners with their waste management, but also revitalize Lake Agawam.

Village officials have explored the prospect of a sewer district for nearly a decade, but have only began to move forward with it in more recent years.

The meeting will take place at Village Hall on Main Street Wednesday at 5 p.m.
