Jun 22, 2012 9:40 AM

UPDATE: Friday, 9:29 a.m.

Daquan Eleazer, 21, of Old Soldiers Road was arrested by State Troopers in connection with Thursday’s stabbing. Mr. Eleazer got into a physical altercation with another member of the Shinnecock Indian Reservation over the ownership of property before stabbing the other man in the abdomen and fleeing the scene, Troopers said.

Mr. Eleazer turned himself in later in the day on Thursday and was charged with assault in the second degree, a felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor. He was held for arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court.

UPDATE: 3:57 p.m.

Troopers said the stabbing victim, a 31-year-old male resident of the reservation, was treated for a non-life-threatening stab wound to his abdomen and released from Southampton Hospital.

The suspect is a 21-year-old man, who also lives on the reservation, they said. As of 4 p.m., he was on the run from police, Troopers said.

Police would not reveal the names of either man.

The stabbing took place near Old Soldiers Road, Troopers said.

New York State Police said they are investigating a reported stabbing on the Shinnecock Indian Reservation Thursday morning.

A call reporting the stabbing came in at about 10:30 a.m., Troopers said.

They declined to release further information, citing the ongoing investigation.

Editor, why are comments not being allowed on the DWI/Vehicular Manslaughter article involving the SC Sheriff?

It seems as though the censorship exhibited on this site goes against the objectivity so critical, yet lacking in too many "news" agencies?

I agree ICE..to pick and choose what articles can be commented on seems unfair. Who decides what is open for comment and why?
