Arrest Made In Connection With January Shooting In Southampton Village

Mar 16, 2016 10:43 AM

A 17-year-old was arrested last week by Southampton Village Police in connection with a shooting that took place in the village in January and sent three people to the hospital.

Chace A. Quinn of Southampton was arrested on Thursday, March 10, and charged with first- and second-degree assault, both felonies, as well as second-degree reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor. According to a press release from police, he was indicted by a grand jury on March 7, and then appeared before Judge Mark Cohen on Friday, March 11, in Suffolk County Criminal Court. He was remanded to the Suffolk County Jail in Riverside after failing to post bail, which was set at $250,000 cash or $500,000 bond.

Police have not responded to inquiries attempting to clear up the timeline of Mr. Quinn’s arrest.

The charges stem from an investigation into a shooting that took place on January 25 on Hillcrest Avenue in the village. Police said the teenager was driving a white 2011 Toyota Camry when he fired several shots from a shotgun into a crowd of people standing in the street.

Three men suffered non-life-threatening injuries and drove themselves to Southampton Hospital, and one remained in the intensive care unit for five days, police said.

Police said they expect to make more arrests, as there were other occupants in the car with Mr. Quinn. The Toyota Camry has been impounded, according to the release, and the investigation is ongoing.

Seventeen years old and look what he's done to his life and the lives of three people who were hurt. He'll go to jail while his classmates go away to college. I hope he thinks it was worth being a gangsta.
