Kurt Billing Remembered - Where is Kurt?

This poem, which was read at Kurt Billing's funeral on February 7, was written by Mr. Billing's friend David Corwith.

Where is Kurt?

Kurt’s in a canoe paddling across Big Fresh

Where is Nature?

He’s helping the Peconic Land Trust and the Nature Conservancy clear a nature trail.

Where is Kurt?

He’s in Africa on an expedition, living in a tent for a month with the local people.

Where is Nature?

He’s in Nepal helping the locals. Kurt, “Where is Nepal?” “It’s somewhere in the Himalayas.”

Where is Kurt?

He’s with Richie Armusewicz in San Francisco helping him build a house.

Where is Nature?

He’s volunteering as a firefighter in the great northwest putting out forest fires.

Where is Kurt?

He’s visiting another friend, Doug Penski in Tucson Arizona.

Where is Nature?

He’s riding his Enduro motorcycle though the hills of Pennsylvania. He’s riding home in the pouring rain on his bike.

Where is Kurt?

He’s back at the lake house teaching hundreds of children a lifelong skill that may someday save their life.

Where is Nature?

He’s on Big Fresh flying a kite. Flying a kite on Big Fresh? Yes he’s ice skating with a sport kite.

Where is Kurt?

He’s helping his mother go to church so she can listen to Reverend Koonae Lee.

Where is Nature?

He’s at the Golden Pear with his friends.

Where is Kurt?

He’s with the Lord.

Where is Nature? Hitchhiking home from a week long skiing trip in Vermont with his friends; not because he didn't have a ride, just for the adventure of it.
