Bad weather prompts postponement of drive-In movie night

Jul 7, 2009 10:00 AM

The Southampton Chamber of Commerce has postponed its Drive-In Movie night scheduled for tonight, July 2. The movie will now be screened in the field next to the Elks Lodge on County Road 39 on Tuesday evening, July 7.

Heavy rains on Wednesday have made the field, where the mobile movie screen is to be set up, a muddy mess and the threat of heavy rains Thursday evening had event organizers worried that vehicles might get stuck.

“We’re bummed out,” chamber Director Millie Fellingham said Thursday. “But we’ll pray for sun and do it on Tuesday.”

The gates to the Elks Lodge field will open at 7 p.m. and the movie, “Bee Movie,” will begin at dark.

Feels like the good old days, "drive-ins". The simpler days when life was so much easier.

When will they do another one with non-kiddie movies? I like funny kid movies but lets have Friday the 13th or the Rob ombie version of Halloween - that would be awesome!!!!
