East End Health Alliance and Aetna renew contract

Feb 3, 2010 11:29 AM

The East End Health Alliance—composed of Southampton Hospital, Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead and Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport—has reached a contract agreement with health insurance company Aetna, according to a statement released by Southampton Hospital on Monday.

The new contract will start on February 15 and expires at the end of the year. It will keep the three Alliance hospitals in Aetna’s network, so Aetna insurance will continue to be accepted at the medical facilities.

The agreement marks a renewal of the current contract, which was originally set to expire on January 15, but had been extended to February 14.

Negotiations for a new contract between the Alliance and Empire BlueCross BlueShield, the largest insurer on the South Fork, continue to move forward, according to spokespeople representing both sides.
