The National Weather Service is warning that “significant snowfall” might fall on Long Island tonight—between 4 and 8 inches in some areas.

A winter storm watch will be in effect for the region from 6 p.m. Friday through Saturday afternoon, though snow is likely to start in the west and reach the East End later on, according to the weather service.

“[A] great deal of uncertainty remains on how much snowfall the area will see,” the weather service stated in an advisory issued Friday morning. The heaviest snowfall is predicted to fall late Friday night and Saturday morning and should taper off late in the day Saturday.

In anticipation of the snow, Southampton Intermediate School Assistant Principal Susan Wright announced Friday afternoon that the Student Council Dance scheduled for Friday night has been canceled.

How am I going to deal with all this snow? My shovel is outside and I can't open my door bacause it's all blown up against the door! HELLLPPPP!!!!!

Opps, I'm sorry. That was a bad dream probably caused by the panic instilled by the weathermen. You just gotta love people who make a forecast that reads something like, " this storm could bring anywhere from 4 to 9 inches of snow or possbily more than a foot of snow. Or there might be just a dusting of snow."

I could give a forecast ...more
