Feb 12, 2010 4:53 PM

The League of Women Voters of the Hamptons and The Southampton Press will co-sponsor a debate between Southampton Town Board candidates Bridget Fleming and William Hughes on Wednesday, February 24, at 7:30 p.m., at the Southampton Cultural Center in Southampton. The two candidates are vying to fill the seat of former Southampton Town Board member Anna Throne-Holst, who was elected Southampton Town Supervisor in the November general election. The special election will take place on March 9.

Ms. Fleming and Mr. Hughes will make timed opening and closing statements and answering questions from a panel of local newspaper editors and League President Carol Mellor. Questions will also be taken from the audience. League Chair Anne Marshall, organizer of the event, will serve as moderator and members of the League will serve as timekeepers.

The debate will be videotaped and broadcast on a later date by SEA-TV, Southampton’s public access channel 22. In addition, the program can be viewed at www.town.southampton.ny.us at the same time the debate is showing on channel 22. Check local listings.
