Southampton Town Police on Wednesday had yet to make any arrests in connection with a home invasion in Tuckahoe on Monday morning, in which one man was shot and another beaten.
While police said they don’t have any suspects in the case, they maintain that the house was targeted—but have not said why.
Two men who live in the house at 432 North Magee Street were injured, according to Lieutenant Robert Pearce. One, a 21-year-old man, was shot twice in the abdomen and drove himself to Southampton Hospital just before 10 a.m. A second man, who is 28 years old, was beaten, suffering bruises and cuts to his head and face, and was driven to the hospital by a third man who had been staying at the house, police said. Detective Sergeant Randy Hintze said the third man, who police believe had been staying at the house for a day or two, remained upstairs during the confrontation. The two victims did not provide an explanation for why they did not go to the hospital together, the authorities said.
According to police, two men wearing red bandanas over their faces, and one holding a semi-automatic pistol, tried to enter the residence through the front door at about 9:30 a.m. The 21-year-old tried to hold the men off at the door, when he was shot twice in the abdomen. The 28-year-old resident then confronted the intruders and was assaulted, suffering lacerations and contusions to his face and head, police said. The two robbers then ransacked several rooms in the home before escaping, police said.
Police said they did not know how the attackers fled, nor have they recovered the gun that was used in the shooting. Police would not say what evidence, if any, was recovered, but the bullets, along with any other evidence, were to be sent to the Suffolk County Crime Lab for analysis.
The victims told police they did not know the men who attacked them and that some items were taken from the house, Det. Sgt. Hintze said. He said police were still investigating what had been taken and would not divulge what was said to missing or its estimated value.
Officers at the scene Monday could be heard talking about cameras in the house, and how they were not certain if they were functioning. “There was some indication there may have been video surveillance on the premises,” Det. Sgt. Hintze elaborated on Tuesday. He declined to offer more detail.
The gunshot victim signed himself out of the hospital Monday afternoon or evening, according to Det. Sgt. Hintze. The other man was treated for his injuries and released, police said. Police are withholding their identities, citing the ongoing investigation.
Det. Sgt. Hintze said police turned the house, which they said was being rented by the two men, back to the pair at around 10 p.m. on Monday.
Two men outside the hospital, who would not offer their names but identified themselves as family members, would not discuss the specifics of the shooting Monday morning.
While officers were investigating the crime scene on Monday, a woman driving north on North Magee Street stopped her car and a man stepped out of the vehicle and tried to head toward the house, until he was stopped by police. The man said he was a cousin of one of the victims. Police said no one could come or go, and the pair drove away without incident.
No one was at the home when police arrived just after 10 a.m. Police then cordoned off the house, a modest, two-story home less than a mile north of Tuckahoe School—which was closed that day in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day—and next to a church, the Padgett Temple.
Police were observed laying out numerous yellow numbered evidence markers. A New York State Police K-9 unit was also on the scene. There were two cars in the driveway: a Ford Fusion with North Carolina license plates, and another snow-covered vehicle. There was talk among officers at the scene of the front door being forced open.
Two dogs were removed from the house by the Town Police Animal Control Unit as a precaution.
Police said there appeared to be no link between Monday’s incident and a home invasion in Eastport on January 7. “We have been in contact with the Suffolk County Police detectives investigating that case, and we’ve compared notes and don’t believe that it’s related at this time,” Det. Sgt. Hintze said.
When the initial call of a gunshot-wound victim at the hospital came in that morning, Southampton Village Police responded to the hospital and a house on Powell Avenue in the village. Village Police Chief William Wilson Jr. said on Monday that Village Police knew the shooting victim formerly lived at that home. After an interview with the victims revealed that the crime had not taken place in the village, the investigation was turned over to Town Police.
Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to contact the Southampton Town Police Detective Division at 702-2230, the Crimetips hotline at 728-3454 or by e-mail at crimetips@southamptontownny.gov.

You people should pay more attention. And if you knew the area at all...you would know I'm right. Be more informed before you "think" your right. Enjoy your day.
If it was a house with just drug addicts there would likely not be much to rob, but if they were dealing drugs well.......
"There were two cars in the driveway: a Ford Fusion with North Carolina license plates ........"
Dayum, I pass by there on mcgee all the time
I wonder why those gentlmen drove themselfs to the hospital. Prolly just wanted to conserve the resourses of EMS for ...more bigger emergencys I'm sure.
We need more citizens like them in our communities.
Why let a gunshot victim drive himself to the hospital?
The gunshot victim had to get help right away, the beating victim stayed to help the third or maybe there was a fourth man collect and stash the drugs and money before police arrived!

Tactfully written. The article, that is...
Mo' people, mo' problems. Illegal, is not a race.
I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
One day that dream will come true...hopefully in my lifetime. Its amazing how somethings never change.
All you have done with this article is bring out the men and women who would have worn white coats and white head gear and burn a cross on someones front lawn.

Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie suggested in an interview published today that
Abercrombie told the Honolulu Star Advertiser he was searching within the Hawaii Department of Health to find definitive vital records that would prove Obama was born in Hawaii, because the continuing eligibility controversy could hurt the president's chances of re-election in 2012.
Toward the end of the interview, the newspaper asked Abercrombie: "You stirred up quite a controversy with your comments regarding birthers and your plan to release more information regarding President Barack Obama's birth certificate. Well what is taking so long. How is that coming?"

I know you want to think the man is still holding minorities back, but like the pro Eruv Jews in WHB they are the only ones truly holding themselves back!
Not saying he deserved it, but he made some stupid choices that contributed to his death. I would have ran my ass off and lived to commit economic terrorism another day, were I him.
The man tried to defend himself from a mob of !8 teenagers. I far would he have gotten. Really.
One man's economic terrorist is another's landscaper's, contractor's, restaurant's, store's cheap labor so that they can afford to run their businesses. Go ask any employer around here why they use the economic terrorists not just the Hispanics but the Eastern European one's, the Irish ...more ones that grace this community. Why does Walbaums bus teens in to work at the market. You may not like it but these guys are filling a labor shortage gap out here. They work for less and they help keep your cost of living down. Yes Papito chulo give it some thought
The people who come here to make a new life are different from people like Mr. Lucero who came here to make money ...more with the sole intent of sending it out of the country.
As for filling the labor shortage gap, that is a weak argument, for the same reason you say the employers need them to make ends meet, the worker they are replacing couldn't afford to live on what the illegal aliens are paid. One reason is the illegals will live in overcrowded housing to save money on rent. How when they have kids whose schooling must be paid by our tax money is this lowering our cost of living? School taxes have skyrocketed in the last 15 years in direct proportion to the increase in cheap labor. Coincidence? Hardly!
Before you take the position that they pay rent which covers the landlords portion of taxes, realize that 6-8 coming out of a two bedroom apartment is not covered by the taxes paid on that apartment.
How far would he have gotten if he had run? Who knows for sure, but another guy who encountered that same group of teens the same night did run and is alive today because he ran! Confronting the group was a fatal mistake, machismo can be dangerous.
Why did you refer to me as papa pimp?
I can't agree on your logic that its OK to lynch people without reason or justification because you don't like the color of their skin. These kids had no justification to go after Mr. Lucero. Nor did they a right to justify his legal status in this country. One would have to be surrounded by ...more a group of menacing men before judging how another man reacted. Its saddening that you feel its ok to kill an innocent person because they don't have a piece of paper. Think about it..
I thought papa pimp was out of character for you V, as for lynching or beating someone down like that I don't agree and didn't say it's okay, but I do find it had to have sympathy for someone who help create the circumstance in ...more which the something bad happened. And as for the surrounded by menacing men, I have been in that situation more times than I would care to have been it in for sure. Had a bit of the old school of hard knock education when I was younger. This being said, I am quite qualified to pass judgement on the situation.
Just as a side note... I have a "certificate of live birth" that I am able to use for any purpose, including obtaining a passport. My original was destroyed- some sort of incident involving an ink spill. Would some of you argue to the ends of the earth that I am not a United States citizen because of this? Birthers...ugh. Get over it- he won the election fair and square. Stop pouting and grow up.
I'll say it. "Shame you can't spell it Phil."

I can't even talk the way these people talk:
"Why you ain't,
Where you is,
What he drive,
Where he stay,
Where he work,
Who you be...".
And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk.
And then I heard the father talk.
Everybody knows it's important to speak English ...more except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth.
In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living.
People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an Education, and now we've got these knuckleheads walking around.

These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids.
$500 sneakers for what?
And they won't spend $200 for "Hooked on Phonics."
I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in an orange suit.
Where were you when he was 2?
Where were you when he was 12?
Where were you when he was 18, and how come you didn't know that he had a pistol?
And where is the father? Or who is his father?
People putting their clothes on backward. Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong?
People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn't that a sign of something?
Isn't it a sign of something when she has her dress all the way up and got all type of needles (piercings) going through her body?
What part of Africa did this come from?
We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans; they don't know a thing about Africa.
I say this all of the time — it would be like white people saying they are European-American — that is totally stupid.
I was born here, and so were my parents and grand parents and, very likely my great grandparents. I don't have any connection to Africa, no more than white Americans have to Germany, Scotland, England, Ireland, or the Netherlands.
The same applies to 99 percent of all the black Americans as regards to Africa — so stop, already!
With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap...and all of them are in jail.
Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person's problem.
We have got to take the neighborhood back.
People used to be ashamed.
Today a woman has eight children with eight different 'husbands' — or men or whatever you call them now.
We have millionaire football players who cannot read.
We have million-dollar basketball players who can't write two paragraphs. We, as black folks, have to do a better job.
Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids, you are hurting us.
We have to start holding each other to a higher standard...
Hawaii governor claims record of Obama's birth 'exists in archives' but can't produce the vital document

Governor Neil Abercrombie is facing renewed pressure over Obama's Hawaiin origins
Pressure was mounting on Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie today amid increasing confusion over whether President Obama was born there.
Abercrombie said on Tuesday that an investigation had unearthed papers proving Obama ...more was born in Hawaii in 1961.
He told Honolulu's Star-Advertiser: 'It actually exists in the archives, written down,' he said.
But it became apparent that what had been discovered was an unspecified listing or notation of Obama's birth that someone had made in the state archives and not a birth certificate.
And in the same interview Abercrombie suggested that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health.
He said efforts were still being made to track down definitive vital records that would prove Obama was born in Hawaii.

Game-changer! Arizona to pass 2012 eligibility law
Obama will have to produce birth certificate to run again

It could be a game-changer.
A plan in Arizona to require presidential candidates to prove their eligibility to occupy the Oval Office is approaching critical mass, even though it has just been
The proposal from state Rep. Judy Burges, who carried a similar plan that fell short last year only because of political maneuvering, was introduced yesterday with 16 members of the state Senate as co-sponsors.
It needs only 16 votes in the Senate to pass.
In this case the source is World Net Daily so, I cannot completely blame you for not wanting to advertise this fact. I wouldn't want to either- but I had to Google this text to see where it came from. I was not surprised at the result.
The "Black Hawk Down" Food Plan advertisement was quite compelling.
This would be meaningful if we were the United States of Arizona instead of the United States of America.
These state acts would be so obviously unconstitutional that I can't see them even being calendared in federal district court. If they are, the judge will declare them unconstitutional as soon as the plaintiff presents his case.
Masturbatory fantasies are ultimately unfulfilling. ...more Ask Wesley Snipes, currently in the federal pen for asserting that the feds have no right to tax him.
