Water Mill native Charles F. Dominski dies at 83

Water Mill native Charles F. Dominski Sr. died at Affinity Skilled Living and Rehabilitation in Oakdale on March 14 following a brief illness. The owner of Dominski Builders in Southampton, he was 83.

Born November 13, 1926, he was the youngest of the five children of Lucien and Katherine Dominski of Water Mill. A member of Southampton Golf Club and a volunteer fireman, he operated Dominski Builders along with his two sons, David Dominski and Charles Dominski Jr. Upon retiring he settled in Jupiter, Florida.

In addition to his two sons, David Dominski of Baiting Hollow and Charles Dominski Jr. of West Virginia, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ann Dominski of Oakdale; three daughters, Theresa Sanders of Southampton, and Diane Bayrami and Patricia Dominski, both of Sag Harbor; a sister, Helen Rana of Florida; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled for Wednesday, March 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at Brockett’s Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 18, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, also in Southampton. Cremation will follow.

They broke the mold when they made you, Chas; one in a million. A figure that still looms large in my childhood memories. Please keep a place at the table for me, Casimir.
