UPDATE: Driver In Water Mill Rollover Crash Charged With DWI

Jul 4, 2012 10:31 AM

A Southampton man was charged with DWI on Monday night after Southampton Town Police said he drove off the road while talking on his cellphone, struck a tree and rolled his vehicle over.

Larry Horton 53, was trying to turn onto Little Cobb Road from Cobb Road when he missed the turn at about 6:39 p.m., police said.

He was taken to Southampton Hospital for the treatment of minor injuries and
arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI, according to Sergeant Michael Burns.
Mr. Horton was the sole occupant of the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

He was expected to be released from the hospital later Monday night and taken to police headquarters in Hampton Bays to await a morning arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court.

Guess he's not one of those drunk correction officers getting special treatment by the Press & the cops.

He had to have been going at some speed to have done that. I saw the car upside down just after he crashed. Glad to hear no one was badly hurt, and glad he didn't hit someone else. There were girls on golf carts in the vicinity. He could have killed them.

I know that every summer is crazy, but this summer seems to be shaping up to be one of the craziest in the past few years. I'm coming across all manner of creeps and weirdos; there are many more jiggers on main back roads than usual; I'm seeing people fighting with Jitney drivers and stewardesses for no good reason. It's never pleasant, but everyone seems to be operating on a hair trigger this year.

Big surprise it is the first time he did this. At least he didn't kill someone.

KARMA will get you every time. Bad things shall happen to people that treat others badly. This is not his first and certainly will not be his last.
