Westhampton Beach St Patrick's Day Parade is set for Saturday, March 27

Mar 24, 2010 11:56 AM

The 43rd annual Westhampton Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade, originally scheduled for earlier this month, will begin at noon on Saturday, March 27.

The parade route will start at the Westhampton Beach Elementary School on Mill Road and continue southeast on Mill Road before turning west onto Main Street and concluding near Sunset Avenue. Several bagpipe bands, including the County Armagh Pipers, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 25 Pipe and Drum, the Inis Fada Gaelic Pipe Band and Tara Pipes and Drums are scheduled to perform.

If the weather is favorable, a children’s carnival featuring rides and games will be offered on the Great Lawn, located on the corner of Main Street and Potunk Avenue.

Originally scheduled for Saturday, March 13, the village parade was postponed due to inclement weather.

For additional details, call Westhampton Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee Chairman Tim Laube at 560-6392.

Hopefully this parade will not require the 90 officers from 10 jurisdictions which covered the Montauk parade.

Can you imagine the cost of the Montauk parade coverage, most of whom were presumably on overtime?

No wonder our taxes are so high.

It's like a paperwash. Except lots of cops get paid overtime. Your cops go here this day, and my cops will go there another day. People get paid for the service.

This is wrong and must be stopped given the fiscal constraints on our Town. I have never seen a number showing the public that SHT gains from police assistance from WHBv police. If they need our help, pay for it.
