Westhampton Beach business broken into; two others vandalized

Apr 21, 2010 1:46 PM

Westhampton Beach Police are looking for the person they say broke into a business on Old Riverhead Road and attempted to break into two more businesses on Montauk Highway on Saturday night.

The suspect threw a rock through the window of Gloria’s Catering on Old Riverhead Road, broke into the building and stole $100 cash,
police said. The incident was
reported at around 9 a.m. on Sunday.

The store sustained an estimated $1,200 worth of damage and the shop’s cash register, valued at $200, was also damaged, according to police.

Officers also responded at around 11 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, to an alarm at Firehouse Pizza on Montauk Highway where a large stone was thrown at the window. Glass was broken, but there was no sign that someone had entered the building, police said. While police were surveying the damage, they also found a similar break-in attempt at Loughlin’s Deli, which is in the same complex as Firehouse Pizza.

Police said they are looking for a white male in his late teens or early 20s. He was seen on surveillance cameras wearing a green-hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

Suffolk County Police assisted in the investigation.

Now I'm no detective, but wasn't Mike Mosolino's deli counter robbed the same way? Deli, Pizza, seems like a M.O. to me.

Even with a survellance camera the so-called police force will have the same result as they have had solving the crime that has gone on for years.
NOTHING

What "crime that has gone on for years?" Is your Village in the middle of a protracted crime wave? Sounds like a couple of recent break-ins, and one armed robbery several years ago. Hardly qualifies as a "crimw wave."

Now even the Beach Blogger has come around to the benefits of disbanding the police department, and makes a rational case based on their cost effectiveness and slacker ways.

But you are a broken record with a stuck needle -- it sounds like you got a parking ticket ...more

"Frank"
As always the more you speak the more you show how little you know and are nothing more than a air bag.
The problem I have and have always had was they are OVER PAID and
DO NOTHING. Just look at the police reports.
So tell me Frank who was ever arrested for any real crime that has gone on??? NO_ONE
Now your time to fess up as you say.So are you on the PD or is one of you family? Since you just beat the band in their defence.

A] I am not now nor have I ever been on any police force, nor is any member of my extended family.

B] You again fail to respond to the question: What "crime that has gone on for years?" You pretend to respond by asking what arrests have been made, but that doesn't answer the question!

Aside from an apparently armed robbery at a restaurant two years ago and this past weekend's break-in and attempted break-ins, what crime are you yammering about like a broken record with a stuck ...more

I would not cite the Bleach Blogger as a bastion of veracity. That dude is a bit jaded to say the least.

"Bleach Blogger?" That's funny.

Of course he has a well-defined point of view, but he doesn't seem to make many mistakes, and one that I recall from last year, he owned and set the record straight. Can you substantiate your charge?

But if you're the same "Hambone" who used to comment on his blogspot, didn't he give you the bum's rush earlier this month? Shouldn't you make that disclosure in the interests of "veracity?"

Not sure it mattered but yeah he gave me the ole one two in citing WHB poopulation stats and my hyperbole for "hundreds of homes. I make no bones about it he was right on the numbers. What he was not right on was the assumption that every person blasting down meetinghouse Rd to Main street was a Quioge soccer Mom. Even when called on it he stuck to his guns and got defensive. When you are wrong your wrong...man up and move on.

I find his insights into the WHB political machine interesting ...more

"WHB poopulation stats."

Are you a careless typist or an inveterate punster? (Me? I'm careless sometimes.)

I always thought the "Quiogue soccer moms" thing was a hyperbolic characterization, but as I commented previously, when he made a factual error last year, he did own it and corrected it.

If he's made others, I didn't spot them, so I think your suggestion is more pique than anything else.

Frank
As always you pick and chose.
There was not only a armed robbery but other breaking that fall. I have said the chief was home sleeping,I said that the Southampton PD was 1st to show up at the Post Stop not the westhampton Beach PD who has less than 3 square mile to patrol.
What about the stabbing at the steak house, who was arrested??
The cop owned bar busted for drugs after the Suffolk PD did the investagation?
Cops caught sleeping
Two cops that lied to the Suffolk ...more

Nothing like the reverberating effects of Wall Street's influence on the economy.

Frank, we support our police force whole heartedly and completely, but I can't think of one business on Montauk hwy that has been here over 10 years that hasn't been the victim of a break in. I'm not taking sides, just sharing the truth.

btw 2006 - 2008 there were at least 4 UNSOLVED break ins on or around the corner from main street - not including Post Stop, which was armed robbery

always had positive relations with WHB PD, but crime solvers they are not
