Edwin 'Buzz' Schwenk dies

He had a love for the Hamptons. the real Hamptons, and he never gave up on his efforts to preserve it. He grew with the times; he knew when it was time to say "hold on, that's enough", back when it maybe wasn't so popular. He gave it his all. We should be thankful for the "Buzzer"." County Road 39 to see minor widening project in the fall

You forgot Three Finger Joe's and the downstairs bar at the Polish Hall, Brownie's Park Hotel, Clyde and Stan's, the real Shippy's, the old Bowden Square, the Terry Tavern, and the bar on No. Main St. opposite the entrance to the nursing home w/ the pickled eggs and pigs knuckles on the shelf behind the bar (That was always the last stop). There was also a bar across the street favored by the Hillcrest folks.

Investment Banker Sues Southampton Town Planning Board, Farmers Over Barn Denial

Legal rights agreed to by two parties cannot later simply be ignored by one of them. For the Town Attorney to make these types of comments indicates an institutional prejudice against this property owner. For the Boards in this Town to not do their homework and issue poor decisions is bad enough; but for the Town's chief legal adviser to allege "coercion" exposes the Town's own bad advice. Tell us you didn't really say this, Tiffany. Or was there pressure from above?" Mar 3, 14 5:41 PM

I guess you weren't here in the 1950's. People then were kinder, more respectful, more neighborly, and didn't hide behind hedges.
Before the big highways were built, there actually weren't many "NYC" people here, not even in the summer. Most of the big money lived in Fla in the winter and here in the summer, and everyone seemed to get along fine. " Nov 5, 15 12:38 PM

Sandpebble To Be Awarded More Than $750,000 In East Hampton School District Lawsuit

Hey HB, why then don't you just find out instead of innuendoing? When you don't have the facts, just vote no? Sounds like intellectual lassitude which is what we have been afflicted with on the national level these last seven plus years." Jun 6, 16 10:44 PM

Former Southampton Village Mayor Douglas Murtha Dies June 8

Dedicated, that's all you can say about Doug. Many hours were spent with him working on details for making things work.
Those of us who knew him will miss him, but take heart that the Village is a bit better off for him and hope that we who are left will follow his example and say "Doug put so much into what he believed in. so why can't we?."
Love ya, Doug, see you upstairs in the real Drivers Seat!!!." Jun 17, 16 9:19 PM

Concerns Raised Of Inside Baseball Being Played Within Southampton Village Boards

This is a typical attempt by a "privileged" group attacking hard working local board members who volunteer their time on Village boards. All those critics should try it some time. You will not see these groups assailing their own members actions. And by the way, just who are the members of the SA? Opponents of the Despatch application, one would guess, who hire out-of-town hatchet attorneys who specialty is opposition work because they don't have the talent to put forward applications of their own.
There is nothing unethical with bringing an application before a board you sit on. Just recuse yourself." Sep 21, 17 11:56 AM
