Southampton Town Board Still Split On Energy Sustainability Position

Is there no one in Southampton qualified for this job? " Mar 3, 11 11:07 AM

The federal funding for this position is not guaranteed in the future. Chris Nuzzi and Jim Malone are giving transparency to that fact. It is somewhat troubling that in a town of over 50,000 people, this position cannot be filled by someone in the town where unemployment is at high levels. People find the level of energy use they are comfortable with and this position won't do a thing to reduce enery consumption. There is no such thing as f"ree money" from the feds. Real World is correct, the fully loaded cost of an employee who makes $60K is quite a bit more than that. Let's be careful here. There aren't a lot of employment opportunities for local Southamptoner's who can barely cover their bills as it is. When something doesn't make sense, let's challenge it." Mar 4, 11 2:42 PM
