Family, friends say goodbye to Quogue Village Police officer

To a young son reeling from the unexpected death of his father, his mother says she offers a simple consolation to the boy's broken heart:

Dad's in heaven.

Since Christian Alessi, 12, found out that his father, Christian Gomez, was killed Sunday when a Ferrari he was riding in crashed into a tree, the boy has been staring in shock outside, yearning for his father's return, said Christian's mother, Michele Alessi of West Babylon.

"He's been looking out the window and standing by the door, thinking his father is going to pick him up," said Alessi, who is divorced from Gomez. "It's not good at all."

Tuckahoe School Board considers superintendent's contract

the community has not been well served by this current board. we have not heard them put together a single, coherent, relevant argument against Linda or for anyone else. " Jul 24, 09 3:05 PM

Tuckahoe superintendent resigns amid furor

to mychildmatters and other, no use trying to diminish parents of younger students. the fact of the matter remains that science will prove that some of the students will not achieve and some will and that is hereditary. as we see from your posts, the expectation that your child would be a rhode scholar may have been a bit overreaching - considering your most eloquent attempt at justifying the bumbling and dishonest actions of the two board members at question.

at the board meeting the other night, the rep. from the teachers union was there supporting rozzi, the parents in room were a cross section from the most respected and succesful families in the district..supporting rozzi, the most senior board member by a long shot was supporting rozzi..the only folks with no supporters were susan and sharon.

and in fact, susan and sharon were unable at any time to put a single coherent, meaningful sentence together that spoke to their actions. so they themselves did a terrible job supporting themselves. further, those of you who they represent, should know that they carried themselves in a most embarassing way. the level of ineptitude on display, as it related to the simple mechanics of the meeting, to the impactful issues at hand was spectacular. this too, deserves mention. let me repeat, regardless of what side of the decision you are on - you have GOT to admit that this board is broken and needs fixing so that the focus is squarely on our children.

it was not only WHAT they did, but HOW they did it. so, while lots of folks can sling b.s. around anonymously on a website...it would take real backbone to stand up for your position, in a public forum and express yourself. that's how you PROVE that you care about the school rather than just slinging drivel about how the school sucks. but at this point, the accusations of a few families who resented having to pay some extra bucks on a tutor rather than on new wheels for the 4x4 are not supported anywhere..except when you discuss them over a cocktail in private...and that doesn't count.

finally, the parents of younger children also deserve to hear the board's (and you supposedly wiser parents') vision of the school moving forward, and how removing ms. rozzi would resolve your so-called problems. you should strive to be half as poignant and well spoken as ms. welker who helped the audience to understand how effective ms. rozzi is at tuckahoe and when compared to alternatives her experience on search committees have highlighted.

the dialogue, the decisions and the workings of this board need to be utterly transparent in an effort to return credibility, civility and the trust that it so obviously lacks. " Jul 29, 09 2:16 PM

nice try mychildmatters. the fat lady ain't really singin' quite yet. seemingly, the majority do not agree with your assertions, do not see any proof of your accusations and have a much greater understanding of the situation than you know. tuckahoe school has done very well under unique pressures not normally experienced by a school of that size, and under linda's tutelege. your personal attacks and the tone of your rants are not helpful nto those parents and children that attend the school. it is time for polite, informed and effective communication as that will be the only thing that will effectively guide the community through the transition to new school administration...if that is where they are headed. kiss your parents goodbye, because once they reach age 65, they will enter the age on the government cost grid whereby, they will have reached their point of usefullness. not too worry, the government complex will also be mandated end of care...oops, end of life counseling to help you understand why precious resources need to be saved for those that are more productive to the state.
