East Hampton Town, Village Agree On Northwest Fire Station

Can we get a cell tower put on top? That is smack dab in the middle of a complete dead zone for reception. " Jul 12, 18 1:14 PM

Numerous Forgeries Charged In Lawsuit Over East Hampton Campaign Nominations

This is exactly the kind of thing David Gruber would orchestrate. Not surprised at all that he is defending and supporting this political manipulation. " Jul 31, 18 10:02 PM

Medical Marijuana Becoming New Norm For Treating Severe Illnesses

It absolutely terrifying to hear a purported medical professional claim that “everybody’s 90- to 100-percent better“ just by smoking pot. No they’re not better, and their illness is not being treated. They are just too high to care anymore. Plus we get the added bonus of hundreds of people stoned out of their minds driving around on our roads thinking it’s totally ok because it's ”medical”. " Aug 5, 18 8:05 PM

President Donald Trump To Fly Into Gabreski Airport On Friday

The party of "love and tolerance" is showing their true colors tonight in the first ten comments. The more you spew your hate and vitriol the more people will continue to distance themselves from your party. It is like a bunch of feral chihuahuas in an echo chamber. " Aug 14, 18 9:53 PM

East Hampton Helicopter Traffic, Soaring Since Curfews Lifted, Continues To Increase In 2018

Just wait until Sylvia gets her way and closes the airport in 3 years - that 32% will become 100% because closing the airport will only affect the fixed wing planes which are mostly little single engine props. The helicopter traffic overhead will triple! They will fly into Southampton, Montauk, and Sag Harbor in droves without any air traffic control. Sylvia is so obsessed with closing the airport to redevelop that land with Trunzo and Dalene into expensive houses that she can’t see the disaster she is going to cause our entire community. " Aug 15, 18 8:58 AM

More East Hampton Voters Say Their Signatures Were Forged On Petitions

They will only investigate if it’s adversarial to conservatives or Republicans. And then they will only publish 1/10 the facts in a creatively reordered and selectively edited fashion. If it involves the wrongdoing or corruption of a liberal or Democrat they waive their hands and chant “There’s nothing to see here” then move on to another story. " Aug 22, 18 3:53 PM

Traffic In 2018 Was Up, And Out

If you think it is bad now, just think if that small number (but very loud and aggressive) group of NIMBY's who want to close the airport got their way! Imagine piling on a couple hundred thousand more cars and trucks to the already gridlocked roads each weekend all spring, summer and fall. " Sep 9, 18 1:08 PM

Please explain exactly how it is false and disingenuous? If they won’t be using the roads, then how exactly do you think the couple hundred thousand passengers who use the airport will arrive in the Hamptons - by teleporter?? Maybe all of those helicopters (and hundreds more since only fixed wing planes will be affected) will all now show up in your backyard at the SH heliport. Or will those people just not come at all? If so, what kind of effect do you think the loss of a couple hundred thousand seasonal high spending visitors will have to the local economy. Please elucidate with facts rather than devolving to attack me on a personal level with misleading distractions. " Sep 9, 18 3:01 PM

Or were you referring to the size of the group seeking to close the airport? How big is that group - 10 people out of the hundred thousand+ that live out here? Let’s look at the published numbers: In 2016 the number of people who filed complaints and could be verified to live on the East End (north fork, south fork and general area) dropped to only 375. Of the verifiable complaints, 35% came from just FIVE people, and 58% came from just TEN people. Or are you making the ridiculous claim that every single person who has ever filed a noise complaint wants to close the airport.

Law Would Force Montauk Hotels To Provide Extensive Parking If They Want A Restaurant

Welcome to the land of NO! We have become a resort destination that has banned all things resort. The only visitors allowed are those who barricade themselves inside their rental homes and hotel rooms with the curtains shut and can only speak in a whisper. Local businesses can just take that income earning nonsense elsewhere, because it is not allowed here. Now get off my lawn!" Sep 11, 18 2:12 PM

Planners Recommend Extensive Review Of Proposed Wainscott Commercial Center

How very Marie Antoinette of you. While the middle class economy out here starves you want to build expensive botanical gardens. Where can working class families in EH, Amagansett or Montauk get clothes for their school kids, Tory Burch? Where can working class families out here buy an affordable coffee maker or towels or a family computer for school work or a car seat? There is zero infrastructure for working and middle class people. Right now everyone is forced to use Amazon and other delivery methods, which has resulted in a huge backlog at the local post offices and mountains of cardboard from shipping boxes being thrown away - how’s that fitting into your environmental plan. You just send your “help” to buy things for you, but then get your nose all in a twist if you have to even see anything so “gross” as a place where your “help” might shop. We don’t need yet another expensive useless botanical garden next to the dozens of other parks and open spaces we already have or another empty unused cultural center that just drains funds and tax dollars. Not to mention who is going to pay for its maintenance and upkeep, not you. Way to be a smug NIMBY demanding that the Hamptons are only for the rich. " Sep 12, 18 1:05 PM

Rare And 'Confusing' Ballot For East Hampton Democrats On Thursday

And here the whole time I thought judges were supposed to be impartial decision makers who put aside party, politics, and personal opinions when doing their job as a judge.... I guess Democratic judges now exclude themselves from this long standing tradition. Now you know why we don't want any more Democratic judges on the SCOTUS." Sep 12, 18 2:49 PM

And it goes to show how little you know about judicial ethics and NY law. But hey, I’m only licensed to practice law in five states including NY, so what do I know. Since you seem to so horribly misinformed about the ethical obligations of our judiciary, I’ll try to help you. NY Judicial Conduct Section 100.2: A judge shall avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety in all of the judge's activities.
(A) A judge shall respect and comply with the law and shall act at all times in a manner that promotes public confidence in the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary.
(B) A judge shall not allow family, social, political or other relationships to influence the judge's judicial conduct or judgment.
(C) A judge shall not lend the prestige of judicial office to advance the private interests of the judge or others; nor shall a judge convey or permit others to convey the impression that they are in a special position to influence the judge.
The fact that you and others like you are so openly expecting a judge to put party politics over judicial impartiality is terrifying and one of the many reason your party is full of unmitigated corruption and distrusted by most Americans. You don’t even give lip service to impartiality anymore - you just dive straight into demanding that judges rule for you on your issues irrespective of facts. Pretty sure the last time people acted that way there was a big revolution in 1776. " Sep 12, 18 9:44 PM

That’s a pretty fast spinning backpedal you have - how typical. This whole discussion is about the fact the Classic said people should vote for Whelan because she’s a Democrat who “we need representing our democratic values”. That is a clear statement rejecting impartiality and encouraging the institution of someone into a judicial position so they will decide issues before them based upon “democratic values” rather than facts before the court. As for the SCOTUS, the ONLY reason Democrats are againt Kavanaugh is because he is a Republican being nominated by a Republican. Name one non-partisan reason that makes him unqualified to be a Justice. Or are you going to follow the Harris and Booker style of manufacturing claims so patently false even the WaPo gives them four Pinocchios. " Sep 13, 18 9:29 AM

UPDATE: Lys Tops Gruber In Democratic Primary; 'Reform Democrats' Rebuffed At Polls

Well at least Lys will have less clean up to do after Gruber's minions ran around tearing down all of Lys' signs and putting up Gruber's signs in their place last week. " Sep 14, 18 12:23 PM

Fundraiser Slated For Critically Injured East Hampton Man

Wasn't he charged by police with with driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a controlled substance? So he was drunk and high and crashed his motorcycle into a tree. Very fortunate he didn't kill an innocent person in the process." Sep 18, 18 5:11 PM

Probably not. But I do find it disturbingly ironic that they are holding the fundraiser for a guy who injured himself while driving drunk by having it at a BAR and advertising MARGARITAS on the flyer. I hope the police are waiting outside the fundraiser to discourage any of the attendees from following in his footsteps." Sep 19, 18 3:41 PM

Sag Harbor Women Open Communal Work Space

Wait a minute, are you telling me that if I am a aporagender, non-binary, androphillic, skoliosexual who identifies as a llama on every third Tuesday of the month that I can’t use the work space?? Where’s my pink llama hat, I’m starting a protest march. " Sep 28, 18 3:02 PM

Trump Endorses Zeldin; Giffords Supports Gershon In East End Congressional Race

The most glaringly obvious thing about your response is you complete failure to answer the question. You pointed out things about other people, including a Democrat, but failed to state a reason for not supporting Trump himself that is based on fact (key word there is fact, not just hysterical unhinged feelings). Try again. " Oct 1, 18 8:47 PM

Southampton School District To Officially Honor Indigenous Peoples' Day This Year

While this is very funny, I'm pretty sure it is on next year's liberal "History and Cultural Modification" agenda next year just under "attack and remove George Washington's name, statutes and likeness from all public spaces". " Oct 5, 18 10:46 AM

Perhaps we should rename it Amoeba Heritage Day. The amoebas were here first all by themselves then that darned evolution came along and lo and behold humans existed and we have killed off so many poor amoebas and ruined their habitats. " Oct 5, 18 10:49 AM

Fischer Challenges Longtime Senator LaValle; Thiele Faces Newcomer Patrick O'Connor In November Election

Sorry but Dems cannot be trusted. The Kavanagh spectacle and witch hunt are proof of that. " Oct 5, 18 12:41 PM

Zeldin Proposal On North Shore Helicopter Route Signed By President Trump

So the rabidly die hard Democrats who were demanding that the routes be changed will have to thank a Republican Congressman and President Trump for stepping up to get it done. I can hear the heads exploding now." Oct 8, 18 2:32 PM

Lys, Vilar Talk Personality And Community In Unconventional East Hampton Candidates Debate

They are both very good men who really care about our community as a whole rather than just acting for their own benefit and the small group of people to whom they are beholden. Too bad we can't get rid one rather divisive and self-serving Board member (*cough Bragman cough*) so they both can be on the Board and serve our whole community." Oct 16, 18 11:30 AM

Plane Overshoots Runway, Ends Up On Montauk Highway In East Moriches On Saturday

Not sure what you are smoking or drinking tonight but you might want to ease up a bit because it’s making you quite befuddled. Lufker (49N) is a public airport that is currently open and operational to all general aviation traffic pursuant to the FAA. Sorry but it doesn’t matter how you FEEL about it or what you FEEL is irrelevant, that’s not how laws work. You are 100% completely and utterly wrong if you believe local zoning ordinances could possibly supersede federal law, especially when it comes to airports. ONLY the FAA can authorize the closure of a public airport. The town negotiated having the skydiving company leave two years ago but as I said earlier, 49N is open and operational to all GA traffic. If you don’t believe me call the FSDO in Farmingdale, the ARP at the FAA, or just ask the airport’s manager. " Oct 21, 18 9:34 AM

Yeah because so many accidents have happened on Montauk Highway that have been caused by PLANES. There has not been a single injury caused to someone because of a plane on Montauk Highway, but there have been countless thousands of injuries and deaths caused by cars on that same stretch of road. Yet I bet you drive your car in Montauk Highway all the time. Oh the limitless hypocrisy of those with ulterior motives. " Oct 23, 18 8:09 AM

Zeldin Campaign Says Misleading Absentee Information Was A Printing Error

It is so funny watching the children have out of control tantrums on here. The fact is that Zeldin is going to win the election because he will simply have more votes. That's right - more votes. Meaning the majority of the people who live in our area agree with him and choose him to represent them. It really is comical seeing the heads explode of so many narcissists who think that their way of thinking is the ONLY way and that if everyone else doesn't think like them then we are ______ (fill in the blank with the overused insult du jour). It just never occurs to them that if the majority is against them... then they may be... WRONG!" Oct 23, 18 11:54 AM

Wow that was like reading the written version of the telephone game. So Zeldin is bad because he was seen with a guy who knew a guy who wore a pin that may have been connected to a guy who knew a guy whose cousin heard that that guy may have had a great uncle who did something bad 70 years ago. Great logic." Oct 23, 18 11:57 AM
