Supervisor has bone to pick over councilwoman's dog

Are you kidding me? Ms Kabot-please go away. You just made yourself look the fool here in a big, bad way. Shouldn't you be worried with more important issues involving the actual town? Get a clue! You obviously have some sort of personal vendetta with this woman and you shouldn't be dealing with it this way. As town supervisor it's your job to ensure the success and survival of its residents, not to worry about a tiny canine that has nothing to do with the proposal this woman created. If you were so worried about it you should've nipped it in the bud when she brought the dog in on day 1- You are the reason people hate politics- shame on you Kabot!" Mar 4, 09 5:33 PM

East Hampton Town councilwoman could face charges for interfering in arrest

EH town cops are the worst. I know from personal experience. I was wrongfully pulled over a few years ago and arrested before any questions were asked. A cab driver called the town to tell them I had been drinking after refusing to take a cab. I never spoke to the cab driver and he never saw me, my friends, whom I was driving, spoke with him and were trashed. He assumed that I was as well, called the town cops and they were waiting for me to drive by. Once I drove past, they pulled me over ( 3 squad cars) and from their loudspeaker told me to get out of the car. I got out, they cuffed me. I asked what I did only to get no response. I refused the breathalyzer out of spite. After a year of battling, I was released with no charges. They should be ashamed of how they conduct their "routine" police business. They're not cops, they're puppets.

Everyone within the jurisdiction of the EH town cops shoud take notice when driving after dark, they have been instructed to assume that every driver is intoxicated. " Mar 11, 10 10:35 AM

In theory you are right. In reality you are wrong. If you have ever gone out to a bar and had ONE drink and left....you are legally drunk (unless you weigh more than 175lbs). So how many of you have gone out to dinner and had a glass or two of wine only to drive home? You feel fine right? Right. Because you are, but legally and technically, you are drunk or under the influence. " Mar 11, 10 10:40 AM

no, not in jail. postponing and adjourning court dates" Mar 11, 10 7:20 PM

correct, sorry about that. The wording does make a huge difference." Mar 11, 10 11:47 PM

Mattituck woman will receive six months for DWI fatality involving Hampton Bays teen

6 Months? Unbelievable! 6 months for taking a life but you'll get a lot more if you get caught with some weed on you. Where are our priorities? You can all say "we'll see on election day," but the truth is that nothing will change. Politicians will continue to be bought out, sell out and do favors for those with deep wallets.

Your votes mean nothing, it's time to wake up and realize that since the beginning of our government, we the people were never meant to have a real say. " May 28, 10 3:57 PM

Developer pitches casino in Calverton industrial park

The Town of Riverhead will never allow such a money maker within its jurisdiction. They would rather have vacant buildings on Main St and allow big, corporate businesses to come in to ruin the mom & pop stores. " Jun 11, 10 8:58 PM

Interesting sob story, unfortunately it's not accurate. I grew up near the Turning Stone Casino in Central NY and it has been nothing but a godsend for the local communiites and its citizens. Millions of dollars have gone to the local school districts and municipalities. They structured their business plan so that they are completely sefl suffiicient with DPW crews, weights & measures (they sell tax free gas) and they even have their own police force. There is no burden to the community.

Take a look around US Citizen, houses are for sale, stores are boarded up and people are HURTING! Great way for future generations to grow up.

You were right about one thing, if this doesn't get done in Suffolk County, it will be very quiet for you and your nature." Jun 12, 10 2:25 PM

So is alcoholism and cigarette smoking, don't see you protesting those!" Jun 12, 10 2:28 PM

So then "private" (very orginal btw) my statement is false? If you are saying no to a casino because you believe gambling is a sickness and ruins lives, then you need to take your fight to the convenience stores, bars and anywhere else that sells alcohol and tobacco, as they destroy lives as well.

I never said they "can't make a statement about gambling" was just trying to help them realize that a blanket statement like that is too broad.

View The Kabot DWI Police Tape

WOW! I could only read 1/3 of your ignorant comments regarding her not being drunk. Are you kidding me? You don't have to be a cop to realize that she was intoxicated. Drunk or smashed? Maybe not, but definitely above the legal limit. What you people don't realize is that 2 drinks in one hour makes you impaired in the eyes of the law.

Go back and listen to her counting while standing on one leg. Hard to do sober? Sure. The point of the test is to see how quickly you react when you begin to lose your balance. Listen to her counting, she goes from 13 to 14 to 15 back to 13!

The eye movement test here is key, you can't food your retinas. Anyone that thinks she was a target is out of their miind. She clearly broke the traffic law by swerving mulitple times, smelled like booze and failed basic field tests miserably.

The nail in the coffin was the refusal of the breathalyzer. Automatic DWI in NYS for refusal.

Why would you offer to leave your car there if you weren't drunk? Why wouldn't you blow in the breathalyzer if you were so sure you werent drunk? And who cares that you were at your sisters birthday party?

Stop wasting our taxpaying money and get this court hearing done already. DWI conviction today, loss of license for 6 months, community service and be done with it.

My only defense of this woman is that she should not be treated like a hardcore criminal. The fact of the matter is that she had a few drinks and chose to drive home. End of story. Pay your dues and be done with it. " Feb 3, 11 2:00 PM

Wow, do you really think the cops are out to make more paperwork for themselves? Did you blow? Your height has nothing to do with your blood alcohol level. Your weight does. Even a 200lb man would be legally intoxicated if he consumed 2 drinks in one hour. It's science. Good luck with your imaginary superpower tax revenue blah blah blah, let me know how that works out for ya!" Feb 3, 11 2:06 PM

Thanks to the freedom of information act this is all legal, llike it or not. I certainly enjoy being able to see our elected officials being held responsible for their personal actions. " Feb 3, 11 2:09 PM

Cops always have their high beams on when pulling someone over. Would you like to see the person you are pulling over in the middle of the night? I would. You don't get to call someone until you get to jail, watch a little law & order and you will understand Jack. No setup here, sorry your holier than though supervisor let you down, again." Feb 3, 11 2:11 PM

I get it. But was there a need to keep saying it? Was there a need for her to tell the cops 4 times (only asked the question once)?" Feb 3, 11 5:31 PM

Yet another intelligent response. You may think an appropriate post from someone who went through this would be to jump on the anti cop bandwagon. However, I learned a very valuable lesson that night in EH. Don't do anything that will give them a reason to land you in trouble. Haven't had a problem since. So in a way, I am fortunate to have had this experience when I did. And if you re read my post, you will see that I was convicted of nothing. Nice try Reg Rep." Feb 3, 11 5:38 PM

How about being able to count from 13 to 16 without going back to 13? Do you think a town supervisor shoud be able to count? I do. Maybe she had weak ankles and weak math skills too." Feb 3, 11 5:39 PM

Hey Banjack, here's a little quote from you I found in the archive. I thought you were arguing against breathalyzers.....

..."could not have said it better.put breathalyzerson all cars.these people will complain that the fines are not enough but put an end to dwi well we dont want to go that far.if we do that then terer will be no drunk drivers will there. problem sloved." Jun 25, 10 3:00 PM

the validity of the horizontal gaze nystagmus test for use as a field sobriety test for persons with a blood alcohol level between 0.04-0.08 is supported by peer reviewed studies and has been found to be a more accurate indication of BAC than other standard field sobriety tests. As a rule of thumb, a person's blood alcohol concentration can be estimated by subtracting the angle of onset from 50 degrees. Therefore, a person with an angle of onset of nystagmus at 35 degrees has a blood alcohol concentration of approximately 0.15%" Feb 4, 11 1:54 PM

Public officials should be held to a higher standard than those of a regular citizen. This video has every right to be posted for all who voted to see the responsible nature of this now ex-official. Kudos to the Press for posting it. " Feb 4, 11 2:01 PM

Really? Really? I can't believe what I am reading here. Yes, she failed the field tests and that is why they "wanted to move to the breathalyzer." If you are a the Town Supervisor and you can't follow simple directions, yes you are mentally impaired. And if you are not drunk or buzzed or whatever, you are just plain dumb. Noone can argue that you can't hold a position such as hers without the knowhow and intelligence. Anyone who tries to argue that the counting wrong, not following directions etc shouldn't be taken serously is either blind or a Kabot." Feb 4, 11 2:05 PM

Agree with your GB pick, not the acquittal. Go Pack!" Feb 4, 11 2:14 PM

Jury Verdict In Kabot Case: Not Guilty Of DWI

What a joke! Not guilty? Total failure of our criminal justice system. She was clearly impaired by alcohol that night and only got away with it because of who she was. I say was because she is nothing now. If it were me or you in this trial we would've already been convicted.

Makes me so angry that people like her get away these things. I ask you all this question...If she wasn't impaired by alcohol then she may be the most unintelligent person to ever hold an elected position. She can't even count to 20 or follow simple directions. This is more embarassing than the arrest in the first place. You now live your life amongst people who now know how dumb you really are. 13, 14, 15, 13!!! HA!

It is truly a sad day for our judicial system and it's process. The jury should be ashamed of themselves. The only lesson learned here is that if you are ever pulled over after having imbibed, DON'T BLOW!

Unbelievable, truly unbelievable." Feb 4, 11 9:48 PM

regrep, you are the moron here. Tell you what. I'm going to come over to your house after having "two" glasses of wine and take your children for a ride. Sound like a good idea? Would you let them in the car with me? Would you let them ride along with your precious ex supervisor? Would you lend her your car to drive around in? Would you let your kids ride their bikes outside knowing she was coming down the street? Answer these questions leaving your warped political views out of it and you will see the real answer.

GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY. To repeat what someone else posted above, OJ was acquitted too!

The best part of this whole thing is that she has to walk around town and listen to the whispers and see the pointing. I love it. I can't wait to be one of them." Feb 6, 11 5:07 PM

And apparently some people are capable of overlooking the fact that she broke the law and put other people in sever danger that night. Had this been anyone else we wouldn't even be talking about this, they would have already been done serving their sentence.

regrep you should be ashamed of yourself. I guess some people are above the law in your book. I hope you have a few drinks one night while at dinner and get pulled over. I really do!" Feb 6, 11 5:09 PM

They can take it down but I will be putting it up on youtube, twitter, facebook and any other site I can think of where people will be able to see the injustice that was served to us this week. Police arrests are public information, like it or not Kabotlover. Too bad you won't be getting your way with this one, can't win em all eh?" Feb 6, 11 5:16 PM
