UPDATE: Sag Harbor Residents Reject Turf Field Proposal Wednesday

Stephanie Bitis- School Board member. Interesting comment. Is she moving to Canada?" Dec 15, 16 8:35 AM

Moody's Upgrades Westhampton Beach Village's Financial Standing

Ms Moore explained "we have really taken this seriously and every year we review the budget with the goal of keeping the Village in a healthy financial position" . Earlier in the article they stated the better credit rating will keep the financing costs of the $50,000,000+ sewer district and $4,000,000 + drainage, and millions for the marina project. Wake up WHB. The Morres are spending moore of our tax dollars. Hopefully this will go to vote but the Moores aren't really into letting the community decide things (unless there are grants planned for this but the Mooores are mum on that one). Now I like improvements and keeping the Bays clean but the lack of transparency on all these projects is troubling. But transparency is not something the Moores are concerned with." Dec 21, 16 6:23 PM

OK. So they act in unison. Fine. Ill give you that. So my question still stands- Will they let this go to taxpayer/community vote? and, How much will this cost? The way I see it its multiples of the annual budget. Know what that means? Ive said before I would be willing to pay a substantial increase in taxes to keep the bays clean but I would want it for the whole Village- not just for Main Street thats empty for 9 months of the year. As an FYI I have also said a Trustee said it would be excess of $40mil for the sewers and they have no funding yet. With that wouldn't you want the Mayor and Trustees to be truthful on the estimated cost so far? Why the secrecy?" Dec 22, 16 6:18 PM

Quogue Village Sets Hearing To Discuss Piercing Tax Cap

Sounds to me like the question was a cost/benefit question- NOT a "how a taxes raised question". Anyway politicians like spending other peoples money- look at WHB. The general feeling is- 1. The summer people who keep our taxes low won't mind because they have lots of money. 2. we will do it when they are not here to voice any objection. 3. We have lots of high pensions to support so what the hay. But davids is correct- what are you getting for $8,400 pp?" Jan 23, 17 6:10 PM

Westhampton Beach Village Considering Land Purchase To Accommodate Future Sidewalks

What a great Mayor we have in Mayor Moore. Spending money for new sidewalks when there are many decrepit existing ones. Also lets not forget her recently spending thousands of dollars cutting down dead and dangerous trees so the public doesn't get hurt. Yet its interesting those trees were only removed from the front of here benefactors house on Oneck and the rest of the dead trees up an down Oneck and Bayfield remain. I guess political paybacks are duly rewarded with the Moores and only us taxpayers suffer. The silver lining is when they all collect on the front lawn of her benefactors house for the annual fireworks they will have a nice clear view. Westhampton Beach Hires Consultant To Evaluate Special Education Programming

How about the $5+ mil lawsuit the parents are suing the district for. I guess its really about the money and not about the kid. What fine citizens those Killorans are. " Feb 8, 17 7:15 PM

Local Businesses Close For A Day, Join Nationwide 'Day Without Immigrants' Protest

I don't think anyone is denying the immense value these immigrants bring to our county. The U.S.A. is a lifeboat for many as it was for my grandparents but they were certainly vetted before they came in. The point is this life boat can sink if we are not careful. Criminals do not have right to be here period. If I was a criminal I would be in jail just like anyone else and my family would be broken up. My advice to these illegal immigrants is to stop believing the hype you are told you are being deported. If you are from the 7 banned countries and you want to be here a little more vetting is worth it for all our safety. My advice to the open border people is to listen to the 60 minutes special when they interviewed the King of Jorden. That will say it all. " Feb 16, 17 6:41 PM

Possibly they can also bring an accountant so the ones who are not paying taxes can learn how to start doing that. If you want to be a part of the USA start paying taxes and it will be a good argument for later on." Feb 21, 17 12:24 PM

Westhampton Beach Main Street Overhaul Requires Removal Of Dozens Of Trees

Isnt the bigger story where they are going to get the $4.6m to do the work? Im still waiting to hear that on the infamous "sewer district". I guess the taxpayers have no say in all this money they are spending and the Main Street business are also gonna really be screwed. Think they would have consulted Main Street first but I guess the mayor and Trustees all have business on Main Street so they know how that works." Feb 23, 17 9:26 AM

Westhampton Beach Will Tweak 25-Year-Old Ordinance That Prohibits Indoor Entertainment

So let me continue to figure this out. More people will come to the Village if we have a $40 to $50 Million sewer system and it will allow more good restaurants to come to the Village. So why is it the current good restaurants don't stay open for 8 to 9 months of the year? One would think the traffic would be spilling out on the streets. Anyway when will this illustrious Mayor and Board inform the taxpayers about the real cost and the impact it will have on the taxes? Oh and don't forget about the Main Street debacle and its $5 million price tag, oh and the multi million dollar renovation of the 7 year old library. Wake up fellow citizens. These people need to be stopped. " Mar 20, 17 6:22 PM

Work Continues On Westhampton Beach Marina As Board Gets Ready To Float Bond To Finance Repairs

$1.5 million Marina bond, $40 to $50 million sewer project for "basically just Main Street business", $5 million dollar Main Street "revitalization", Millions to renovate the 7 year old Library. Wake up WHB. Think of your current $10 million budget and what this will do to your taxes- and remember- the higher your taxes go the lower the value of your home. Mayor Moore and the Trustees are on a crazy spending spree. Remember the Village Trustee vote this year. " Mar 21, 17 6:27 PM

Westhampton Beach Takes Next Step In Main Street Project

Gotta Love it. "there will not be a taxpayer vote on the plan". The Moores spending moore. Multi-million library project on a brand new building- by the way- not up to vote- $4.5m Main Street project which will (oh as did the Marina project came out close to 50% moore) probably come out to about $8 to $10 mil when finished. Taxes UP. Housing values DOWN. Keep it up Moores and the Board!!" Apr 19, 17 7:33 PM

Waterfront Revitalization Pitched In Westhampton Beach

WHB residents lets be watchful of those Moores and the other Trustees. They are already moving forward on a $5mil Main Street project that will substantially increase our taxes and we have no say and are not permitted to vote on the $5m project which is 50% of our Village budget. Also note a LWRP could restrict owners of homes in the Village from altering and updating them so when new buyers come in they are stuck with the existing structure thus lowering the values of homes. Remember this when Rubio and Tymann are up for re-election this year." Apr 22, 17 9:06 AM

Zeldin Votes In Favor Of ACA Repeal; Schumer, Gillibrand Say They Will Work To Defeat Replacement Plan In Senate

Great Job today. Finally a possibly end to Obamacare. Congrats to President Trump and his supporters (Zeldin) for trying to fix this disaster of Obamacare. All the folks Ive met who support Obamacare don't use it as they have their own plans. Lets face it the high cost of healthcare is the result of the following: excessive government regulation, no caps restrictions on tort law, and the high income of doctors. Combine this with the current unlimited liability of insurance claims, responsibility of plans to handle children until they are 26 yrs old, the covering of pre-existing conditions, and the american mentality of going to the doctor for the slightest of ailment and its a no win situation for anyone. Westhampton Free Library Board Proposes $3.1 Million Budget

Don't let them fool you with their "budget". I wonder how much of that salary increase actually goes to the employees (who are some of the lowest paid on LI). You need to look at their 2016 financials. Tom Moore and the Board have posted financials that show an actual expense of $235,000 ($40,000 original budget + additional expense of $195,000) for legal expenses as a result of their lack of management skills on employee relations. The financials also show an additional $150,000 reserved for future legal expenses. This article should also mentioned they want to use $3 of $4 million in cash reserves to rebuild the interior of the 6 year old building. By the way us taxpayers DO NOT get any chance to vote on the rebuilding of the library or who sits on this Board. We can only vote yes or no for the outrageous budget." May 10, 17 1:14 PM

Erin McKinley- to be fair- ask the Library how this additional $131,212 is being distributed to the library employees and when? union or non-union staff?" May 10, 17 1:25 PM

WOW- new updated article news flash- "The increase" will be funded by the feeder districts. When I looked at the budget proposal they are getting a "WHOPPING" 9.45% Tax increase. " May 12, 17 1:35 PM

What will the left nuts do when this all point back to Seth Rich of the DNC and his leaking to Wikileaks ? Secondly Im sure Obama and Rice will certainly have a hand in the ordeal. Look at Westhampton Beach They just spent $1.5 mil on a Marina and spending $5 mil on a Main Street project and we the taxpayers don't even get a chance to vote. The Trustees alone decide. Whats really unbelievable is no one else speaks up. " May 18, 17 10:00 PM

Beach Bakery In Westhampton Beach Is On The Market

Good Luck to Simon. Hopefully the new prospective buyers will not see all the vacancies on Main St and drive the price down. Anyway the "rebuilding of Main St" ($4.6 mil), new Marina ($1.5 Mil) will certainly attract more year round customers as well the grand plan of the $60 Mil sewer system. Prices for the food will probably go up as a result of the higher taxes. But build it and they will come. Thanks Mayor Moore and the Trustees. " May 24, 17 6:44 PM
