Alternatives sought after village shuts down Southampton Tire soup kitchen

You guys (the feeders) are absolutely crazy. It's an admirable thing to help the poor, but it's another thing to do so, perpetuating an illegal situation. For the life of me, I can't understand why you guys (illegal immigration supporters) can't see that. Why can't you help feed our poor and hungry? Aren't we good enough? Maybe we can all go down to Latin America and ask for the same kind of help. " Apr 9, 09 5:33 PM

Supreme Court lifts injunction on use of Aldrich Park

Jane Q and Dagdavid and others of like mind:
... Are you guys living in a parallel universe? Do you have ANY idea of the ramifications of this "cute little park", being used as a hiring place for ILLEGALS???? Not to mention the rising crime rates, which is happening in other towns who have hiring halls, or areas. What part do you not get? How 'bout a hiring place for LEGAL immigrants...better yet, a place for TAX PAYING RESIDENTS!????
I am extremely disappointed and sickened by this decision. And sorry to be so blunt and uncivil, but all who agree with this are delirious.

Because this issue is so EMOTIONALLY charged, people have a very difficult time being clear-headed about this. Pro-illegal alien supporters come up with all sorts of arguments that have nothing to do with the main point. It's not about hatred for immigrants, reviling and treating anyone badly, or Corporate America, or the banks, for that matter. It is simply the fact that it is against the law to illegally come into this or ANY country in the world. Unless that fact is agreed upon first, there never will be a happy solution to this. There are many ways to come to America and live a full and happy, legal life. There is no other country who welcomes so many with open arms, as does the United States. If we can't enforce the present laws, then we should work to find laws that can be enforced. As it is now, however, we just have a bunch of angry, emotional people arguing and getting nowhere, as we try to accommodate everyone, and not abide by present laws." Nov 25, 09 3:46 PM

High Hat...you're right. .."none of this will happen because the political will to do it is absent in Congress," and with the rest of those who refuse to see the facts as they are...simply and clearly.

Tea Party Meet the Candidates Night

At least you have a sense of humor, package4...We all have the problem of not getting enough REAL information. There is such an enormous amount of "news" out there...but it really just depends on what and who one listens to. Tea party folk get an awful lot of bad press, so therefore, one might think they are all knuckle-dragging dumbbells who have no brains, and they scream alot. I wish I could help people to understand that, that is not the case. Nor, for instance, is Rush Limbaugh a "bigot" by any stretch. He's a bit bombastic, but he is definitely not a "force for evil". We only hear about "things he's said" from media sound bites, and we believe them to be true. If one really cares to have an educated opinion, then one has to do a bit of research of their own. Check out the opposing media, or better yet, just read the Constitution, or at least the first 10 amendments. We truly are doomed, if all we believe, is what we hear from TV, or read only blogs and other one-sided "informational" material. We really should be smarter than that. I believe we are...sometimes... :)" Aug 13, 10 6:27 PM

Pack4: ohmygosh... you don't eat anything with salt on it, do you? Anyway, it's a good thing you keep your body limber with yoga, as well as your mind nimble with NPR. good man!! Anderson Cooper? Rachel Maddow...better still, Chris Matthews? They'll bring a tingle up your leg, eh?
As for "ICE" and "peoplefirst"...you proved my point. Thank you. Obviously you've never really listened to Rush...come on guys... ya gotta do alittle homework!" Aug 14, 10 4:40 PM

White Files Civil Rights Lawsuit Against Southampton Town

When does a lawsuit become "frivolous"? $18 million dollars is a whole lot of money...For example, that amount could probably feed a few countries for a while.
Are his claims on par with feeding a few countries? I'm just sayin'... ;-)" Dec 23, 10 7:57 PM

View The Kabot DWI Police Tape

This is all an outrage. She may have had a few glasses of wine, but she was in no way "too drunk", and yet she is being hung out to dry as if she slammed into a day care center full of innocent children!

It sure looks like they were trying to get her on something...let's say, reciprocating for her actions toward the police dept. when she was in office? I don't know, but whatever the reason, she is being treated highly unfairly, by the media, the lawyers and by us for salivating over this blood-thirsty nonsense..
Drinking and driving IS a big no-no, but this whole case should be thrown out of court..." Feb 3, 11 12:10 PM

Taking The Road Less Traveled

What a remarkable man and what a great article. Thank you so much for writing about Ron and this cause. If anyone knows him, they know he's quite an amazing character...a much needed attribute of someone who takes on this kind of mission. And good for his wife, Valeria, to help him!
I hope he writes a book!

Mercedes SUV Crashes Into Bridgehampton Carvel

Wait a second... was there a person driving said vehicle, or did the ominous, gas-guzzling terror machine crash into the building on it's own? If so, we must remove all SUVs immediately as they will kill us all!! " Jun 14, 11 11:33 AM

Southampton Town Leaf Pickup Program May Strain Waste Management Department

Another example of a government screw-up. Although there is never ONE PERFECT system, Gregor's new plan is plain ridiculous and more complicated than it has to be. We pay good taxes to the town to do something that most people can't do...get rid of leaves. If you are under 73, you have to buy the stupid bags, and hope they pick them up. More paper, more out-of-pocket expense for us and besides, what if you're incapacitated and UNDER 73 years old? Is 73 the magic number? Why not 72, or 74? What a ridiculously arbitrary guideline! Simple...either burn your own leaves and maybe get " in trouble", or rake them and put them in piles for the Town to pick up. No age limits...no bags... and hopefully next year No Gregor!" Suffolk County 9-12 Project Bumper Sticker Offends, Entry Awarded Most Outstanding Entry At Fourth of July Parade

Really??? This annual parade has thousands of people watching, hundreds of floats and human interest stories, but the alleged 4 x5 " bumper sticker gets all the news??? How outrageous is that? Can't we EVER rise above such pettiness!!!??? We were all there to celebrate, with our community, the birth of our country.
That sure beats a stupid bumper sticker.
