East Hampton Town and Surf Lodge Settle For $100,000

Why did The Surf Lodge get away with being scofflaws for YEARS?

In the case of The Surf Lodge, while Town code enforcement officials were issuing hundreds of code violations, elected Town officials were offering these epic code violators cheap parking on public land at the Playhouse, forgiving noise violations, etc.

No matter what "party" comes to power, East Hampton seems destined to have dysfunctional government!...with more 'tude than thought. This time, all the while our Town government's left hand signals STOP to code violators the Town's right hand enthusiastically signals GO.

Giving credit to Wilkinson on this matter requires a partisan blindness that is as epic as the code violations.

Montauk Hotelier Drops Cesspool Rings On Beach To Protect Business From Upcoming Nor'easter

Short term thinking -- how to steal sand from one's neighbors while socializing the costs onto the public.

"Landowners often assume that a hard, barrier-type structure will be required to prevent loss of property and protect buildings. However, there are indirect costs
associated with mitigation options that armor the shoreline. Many of these are borne by the public rather than the landowner. For example, installation of a groin to trap sand can affect neighboring beaches while a bulkhead built on an eroding beach will eventually become the shore edge, replacing the beach that provided public access and scenic amenities." -- Virginia Institute of Marine Sciences

UPDATE: Services Announced For Flanders Man Killed On Sunday

Granted the judgment shown by the driving public wielding technology not designed to be lethal, I'm not optimistic about how they'd do while armed with massive firepower designed to kill.

Lethal force is not error tolerant -- see how many folks are mistakenly killed.

By the way, it's not "Liberals" advocating for the withdrawal of the economic safety net for poor while making sure that underclass has unfettered, legal access to massive killing power.
