DEC Rolls Out New Plan For Dealing With Mute Swans

These animals are not welcome anywhere in the USA. Their droppings pollute waterways and playing fields. Some ball fields in the NYC and Long Island area are so strewn with fecal matter that they are no longer fit or safe for children to play in. These birds are not natural to our region. I for one would like to totally eradicate their population. Some communities have questioned whether these animals might be a food source for the poor. I've heard that the Food and Drug Administration was vocal against this. So simply said, I see no reason why they wouldn't make a great source of high nitrogen fertilizer. If I haven't made it clear enough already, how about an open season on them, much the way NYS has on dear and bear. Australia actually posted a bounty on rabbits when they threatened the environment. Rabbits weren't native to Australia and they wanted to keep it that way. England has a similar bounty on certain pigeons. Hey folks, wake up, its what we need to do as well, and we need to do it NOW. " Mar 12, 15 2:46 PM

Perhaps we need to relocate the swans to your back yard. Let them drop their fecal matter where you live. DEC tone deaf ... not at all, they are listening to the hundreds of thousands of parents who's children can no longer play in ball fields. They are listening to the fisherman who are seeing their harvest shrink. Enough is enough ... these vermin need to be removed, once and for all." Mar 12, 15 2:50 PM

Southampton Town Trustees To Appeal Rulings Limiting Authority

I'm not sure if I'm reading this correctly. Did the town fathers want to block the installation of private sandbags to prevent erosion???? If that's the case, shame on them. Sometimes nature needs some help." May 14, 15 3:37 PM

Parents Challenge Westhampton Beach School Board To Create More Special Needs Programs

As a retired educator, I can speak from experience. Inclusion programs are in some cases helpful for the special needs student but at an extreme cost to the education of main stream students in the same room. Even with the addition of a teachers aid, there is no way to properly address the needs of a mixed class.
In a 45 minute class 5 to 10 minutes is taken by administrative, attendance etc. That leaves 35 minutes to present a lesson. With 40 students in the room, each student would get less than one minute of individual time. Take into consideration that special needs students will need more time, where is it to come from. Does that mean that main stream students are to receive less individualized attention. Hey folks, get real, INCLUSION DOES NOT WORK." May 14, 15 3:44 PM

Application For House Addition Was Signed, But Not Approved In Southampton Village

Top Five Residents Who Thumbed Their Noses At The Law

I say, congratulations to the home owners. Many of the East Hampton and Sag Harbor regulations have ballooned beyond the ridiculous.
If a parcel of land is sold, and the new owners are given a permit to renovate, then that's it.
It's there property, to grow a tree farm or not is none of any one else' business . It's not my responsibility to donate a view of my property or home.

Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman Explores Idea Of Buying Farmers' Chemical Rights

Enough of BIG government !
Southampton and East Hampton are creating more problems than they are solving.

These slush funds are magnets for all sorts of insane proposals and laws.

South Fork Voters Talk Donald Trump

Polandspring, get your head out of your lower extremity and look at the real world. Hree and now, Donald is the only one up there who is talking any sense at all. With General Motors producing all of their SUV line-up in Mexico, Ford moving to Mexico, Nabisco now in Mexico, several air-conditioner and climate control firms moving their production to Mexico ..... it's time to get the jobs back HERE in the good old USA. Clinton pushed NAFTA and even tried to get the Canadian pipe line pushed through. All thee moves help export US $$$$ollas. As far as the homeless, do you belive that Berni, Hillery or any of the others would do anything different. GET REAL !
As for the trick questions asked of TRUMP about abortion.
The exact wording was, if abortion were ILLEGAL, should someone be punished ...... He answered as expected ... when somone breaks the law, they should expect to be punished. I am a firm believer in the rights of women, including getting an abortion on demand. That's why we need to keep it legal.
As for those of you how think Trump is not the one for you, you're welcome to your thoughts, but do the research for yourself. Stop accepting the hearsay and innuendos passed like gas by his opponents and the news media.
TRUMP IS THE ONLY CANDIDATE NOT BEHOLDING TO THE SYSTEM - THE ONLY ONE UP THERE WHO IS WILLING TO SPEAK HIS MIND. " Apr 7, 16 9:29 PM

Southampton Town Still Undecided About Switching To Single-Stream Recycling System

Single-stream quasi recycling is definitely NOT the way to go. There is no financial or psychological motivation to go to that system. In my mind, "If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it." I utilize the transfer station on Majors Path at least twice a week. It works for me and it profits the town. Why can't politicians stay out of meddling with thungs that don't have any problem People who are not recycling now will NOT recycle with a single stream system !" Apr 28, 16 6:17 PM

Shinnecock Tribal Member Fights For More Than Parking Ticket

The clear and simple fact is .... The ticket was issued for PARKING in an area that is restricted to daily or seasonal permits. It has nothing to do with access to the beach. Anyone, Tribal member or not as full and free access to the beach. For those who don't want to pay, they can always park their vehicle in any one of the FREE parking lots in the village and take the FREE shuttle to the FREE beach. For others who even want to be more healthy, they may ride their bicycles to any town beach and park them for FREE. The fee charged is for PARKING A MOTOR VEHICLE ... not access. If a Tribal member drives to Manhattan, another piece of land which was "stolen" ... they still have to feed the meters ... LOL." May 13, 16 11:23 AM

Southampton Builder Wins Case Against Village Architectural Review Board

Congratulations Mr. White
Sometimes .. No, more often then not ..... Government oversteps their bounds and forms capricious decisions based upon board members personal opinion and not laws and regulations voted on and approved by the residents.
Not only should Mr. White's application be approved, but the board member's who rejected his application should be fined $50 per day for each day they delayed is motions. It's only a token of what his actual losses amount to but it sends a signal that board members will be personally held accountable for their illegal actions. This fine must be paidd by the board members and not by the town slush fund." Jun 3, 16 11:42 AM

Black Lives Matter Rallies Held In East Hampton And Bridgehampton Sunday

I'm tired of the Black Lives Matter movement .... It may have started off well intentioned but now seems to have moved too far. It's dividing this country more than uniting us. I for one want to see it changed to ALL LIVES MATTER!
It's proven fact that most violent crime against people of color is perpetrated by members of their own race. They even have a special name for these perpetrators that others are not permitted to use. Perhaps if all people valued family, education and work ethics, if all people had respect for others ... then this "movement" would never have been called for. It's time for the radicals to address their real problems." Jul 21, 16 11:54 AM

Shinnecock Tribal Members Stand Up For Rights To Access Southampton Village Beaches

Next thing they may ask for is to be exempt from traffic tickets and other responsibilities shared by citizens of these United States. So long as they live on the Reservation, they are exempt from income and property taxes, they have their own tribal courts as well as a multitude of other special considerations. As mentioned, they may come and enjoy the beach for FREE. The fee is only for parking a car. Perhaps they should bicycle, walk or take free transportation as the rest of us do." Jul 29, 16 11:39 AM

Westhampton Beach Black Lives Matter Rally Remains Peaceful; KKK Does Not Hold Counter-Protest

Enough with " Black Lives Matter "
It's time to stop the division. If the movement wants total acceptance it needs to change it's focus to ALL LIVERS MATTER. In addition, rather than spend time and energy in protests .... come together and develop programs to integrate children and teens. It's only by educating the youth of our world that we can truly implement change." Aug 25, 16 2:33 PM

A Private Meeting To Discuss A Proposed Tuckahoe Road Reroute Is Canceled As 'Premature'

This is absolutely ridiculous ,,,,,,
Why should we suffer to promote the needs of a private enterprise.
I use this roadway on a regular basis and don't want to give up and roll over like a dead fish.
If you want to close anything ... close the golf course, not the road." Dec 1, 16 11:38 AM

Southampton Village's Tuscan House To Change Into Gastro Pub

Oster had better learn that his patrons will have SPECIAL requests. He has to learn to be flexible and adapt his ridged menus to accommodate varied pallets. Example .. offer more than one choice of pasta with a dish. I've walked out on occasion when he wouldn't change a sauce for my plate or wouldn't serve an plate over pasta rather than bare.

Michael Bloomberg Reaches Out To Southampton Town Official, Hoping To Revive Discussion Of Tuckahoe Road Reroute

Rich or Poor ... it's nice to have MONEY and influence.
Tell MIKE to take a jump in a pond ... Oh, no, that's not right ... the fish didn't do anything to deserve his arrogance.

! ! ! !SAY NO TO THE RE-ROUTE.! ! ! !

If the wealthy golf players can't wait for a car to pass, let Mikey dig them a tunnel to traverse under the road.

Suffolk County Earmarks $350K For Sidewalk Study Targeting County Road 39 Corridor And Bus Stop

350K for a study ... Jesus .... someone is feathering a nest for profit.
And ... if you do build an a sidewalk, who in hell is going to clean the snow off of it? Rules are, if there is a sidewalk, the property owner adjacent to it must maintain it and keep it clean. I'm not in the cement business but this seems like someone is about to have a windfall." Jun 30, 17 12:51 PM

Southampton Town Supervisor Presents Proposed $99 Million Budget For 2018

Isn't it wonderful how law makers in this country get to vote themselves raises !

Has everyone forgotten that the last time the Southampton Board met, the forced a 5 year reset for false alarms. Yes, this was better than a NO RESET which was totally unfair. But they promised to go back to the table and reduce the reset period to 1 year or 18 month. Seems like this is now a dead issue. Southampton just wants to sneak revenue raising factors into our lives. In this world, people don't get the sort of raises Mr. Schnieiderman is proposing. He even suggested a fee to have an alarm system in your home. He said it might reduce the fee for false alarms. REALY???????" Oct 5, 17 1:21 PM
