UPDATE: Bishop Concedes Race To Zeldin

Zeldin has two years to demonstrate he can do the job. If he aligns with the conservative wing of the Republican party he will be gone. Much easier to criticize the incumbent then swim against the party tide. He's in the big leagues now. " Nov 5, 14 3:40 PM

UPDATE: Body Found By Hunter In Woods Apparently About 500 Feet Away From Lilia Aucapina's House

A while back a Springs woman was found hanging from a tree in the woods. Local police assumed it was a suicide despite some evidence to the contrary and trashed the crime scene. Let's hope the cases aren't related and some professional police work is done. Not hard to make a homicide look like a suicide when dealing with police force that rarely confronts murder." As reported...

A Hispanic advocacy group is calling for a criminal investigation into the death of an immigrant woman found hanged in the woods in East Hampton last year. It also is requesting an independent inquiry into how town police handled the case.

Manhattan-based LatinoJustice, in a letter sent Thursday to Town of East Hampton Supervisor Larry Cantwell, said the Sept. 29, 2014, death of Andrea Gabriela Armijos, 21, merits another look. The missive said town police "immediately acted as if her death were a suicide" without exploring the possibility of foul play." Nov 23, 15 7:55 PM

Family Of Lilia Aucapina Demands Full Investigation Into Her Death

Let's face it.. cops out here are caretakers not murder investigators. They don't have any experience investigating such crimes or protecting the crime scene. Bet the SH cops weren't even aware of the EH woman found hanging in the woods under suspicious circumstances. Very hard to believe the body was there the whole time and not detected by dogs or other humans given the odor of a decaying body. " Dec 9, 15 8:14 AM

Hard to know what's going on here. Did Suffolk County Homicide investigate the scene at the time of the discovery or after? Are they involved now? Were pictures taken of the scene? Has the coroner issued a report?

On this anniversary of the Gilgo serial murders nobody should knee-jerk dismiss a connection between the hangings of Latino women in East Hampton and Southampton under suspicious circumstances.

I find it very hard to believe a mother with a young daughter would hang herself just a short distance from her home unless she had a long history of depression and prior suicide attempts.

Store Closures Spark Questions About Future of Local Businesses

Why are you lumping Bass in with the other stores? The store only closed because the landlord wanted to "upscale" Amagansett Square which is pretty laughable. Don't think there was even a dollar issue. Bass is looking for another space locally I was told by the manager. " Dec 16, 15 12:52 PM
