Prized book fuels ownership dispute

This story is confusing: does the Montauk library routinely sell books that it receives as donations? Why did a doctor living in North Haven donate books to the Montauk library instead of one where he lives (Southampton or Sag Harbor) or any of the other libraries which are much closer? I too have donated things that I wish I had kept--especially when I see them marked with tags at thrift stores, but I have never asked for them to be returned. Dr. Baker should be happy he found a book that he loves and misses (though he didn't know it was gone until his wife saw it in Black Cat.) Life lessons rarely come with an affordable pricetag, this one looks like a bargain. Dr. Baker should thank his lucky stars that he has a chance to recover his lost property." Oct 1, 08 10:34 AM

Bad economy forces some migrant workers home

The bright side: there will be a bit more freelance work available for all the folks who cannot flee to another country, or community. " Feb 6, 09 10:26 PM

Critics respond to airport plan

How much is the budget for the airport (including repairs) and how much comes from the FAA? It's hard to understand this story and the passions it elicits without any idea of what the bill is for running the airport independently. Could Katy Gurley or her editor please post that information on these blogs or append to online article?" Sep 10, 10 1:21 PM
