Southampton High School Student Will Not Return To School After Shotgun Arrest, District Says

And again, (hate to be a stickler for details) a judge never heard the case. The arrest was dismissed upon the request of the DA's office.
The "local" cop did not make the arrest, the SC Sheriffs Office did.
So who are these EXPERIENCED cops that you speak of?
It will be years before this case is adjudicated in civil court, but I think it would be foolish of the plaintiff to start spending her $70 mil.
Time to move on....." Nov 4, 11 2:59 PM

Southampton Town Board Adopts 2012 Budget With $63.8 Tax Levy

HHS blabbers: Historically, and ALONE of all departments, whenever the STPD has gone over budget, it has demanded more money from the Town Council and the Town Council has meekly ponied up.

Please back that up with ANY documentation or valid source. Really, show me where once in the last 15 years the SHTPD has gone over budget. Not that bogus deficit... but show us where the last Chief ever went to the Town Board and asked for more money. Please. Anything. Hello?" Nov 30, 11 9:34 PM

Observant, (who isn't)
I ask that you also please document anything that you post. There is NO evidence that at any time the PD went over budget. I ask you to prove me wrong. " Dec 1, 11 10:22 AM

Westhampton Beach Mayor Won't Check Out Supermarket Proposal

Have any of you read the story? The developers are trying to 1)skirt required procedures by going right to the Board of Trustees and 2) A supermarket on 31 would take traffic and customers from "downtown'. That Walbaums is a pig sty is not the issue. If people would vote with their pocketbooks, things might change at Walbaums.

Southampton Town Board Adopts 2012 Budget With $63.8 Tax Levy

The reasons for this years shortfall have been well documented here and elsewhere, Observant.
Now again, show me where once in the last 15 years the PD went to the Town Board for more money outside of the budget> Put up or shut up, dude. " Dec 1, 11 10:57 AM

Southampton Town Board Approves More Police Overtime

I read quite well, thank you. Apparently you can't say the same. That this year the PD has gone over budget is quite obvious. You and you partner, HHS has repeatedly claimed that this is the norm over the years. How many times have you been challenged to back that up? Numerous times, and you have yet to once offer a single source to back up your claims.
That the new Chief refuses to close down the sector car that covers Noyac and North Haven is the priimary cause of this OT. The old Chief would pat himself on the back whenever this happened and pray like hell nothing happened. " Dec 2, 11 2:02 PM

Southampton Town Will End Year With Budget Surplus

I agree the Kratoville appointment was a less than stellar mark for that crowd. Same could be said for the Wilson appointment I guess.

But how do you find that the 2 person minority is responsible for the budget surplus? That Sir, is the spin to which I refer.

Merry Christmas. " Dec 24, 11 7:29 PM

TB says:
"Remember, that Kratoville appointment of which we both disapprove was just part of an 18-amendment, last-minute assault made against ATH's budget by these three,"

Please note I didn't say I was not in favor of the appointment, it was the process I commented on. The 18 amendments in the resolution made the ATH budget theirs. If I were to spend the time doing research here, I am sure i would find predictions of doom and gloom for the CY 2011 budget. Either way, the 2011 budget clearly belonged to the Rep/Cons. You know, the ones with the 3-2 majority.

And then:
"Whatever else may be said about the Wilson appointment, it was an open process with ample time allowed for input from all (and there was plenty of input)."

Thew deal was made, and interviews were then conducted. I believe a good choice was made, but the interviews were a dog and pony show to distance themselves from looking like a repeat of the Kratoville saga. To infer otherwise is disengenuous.

I admire your ability to spin. but please don't twist my words to fit your position. " Dec 26, 11 12:01 PM

Contractor Claims Southampton Councilman Locked Him In Office After Worker Broke Into Home

The issue is not the quality of workmanship. The issue is a senior county employee threatening a contractor with the "power" of his office. An office that he said he would resign from if he was elected to the Town Board.
The County Clerk should refer Mr Malone to the County Ethics Board.
BTW, any relation?

Southampton Town Board Enhances CPF Reserves

All taxpayers do NOT pay for this. The purchaser of a home pays a 2% tax into the CPF.. As stated above, interests rates are at all time lows. Keep in mind that there is only so much undeveloped land left and it is believed that was is here will be GONE by 2030, throughout Suffolk County.
Doing this makes total sense. " Jan 24, 12 9:45 AM

Southampton Town Aquires 20-Acre Parcel In Riverside

Wow, just Bridget and Anna did this? You mean they defeated the evil Republicans by a 2-3 vote? How cool is that?? Wait a minute there, you can't fool me......oh I misunderstood, it was a 5-0 vote and those evil Republicans voted in favor of this as well they just didn't get any face time in the article. " Jan 27, 12 1:12 PM

Ease up TB. just wanted to point out that this was not done in a partisan manner. If all 5 board members voted in favor, then just say so. The "effort" was made by the folks who work in CPF, not any two board members.
Show your usual class, ( that is a sincere remark) and point out that this was something the board did as a team without bi-partisan crap involved. " Jan 29, 12 9:52 AM

I'll agree on one thing: You disappointed me.
And I would ask, that you provide any evidence that the other town board members were in any way at any time opposed to this, or for that matter any CPF purchase.
Lacking your ability to provide that that: my point exactly, Sir.
Before you elevate this into a scenario wherein you credit Anna and Bridget with saving the "crown jewel" of the east end, please read Nature's postings on this.
The cost to a purchaser of falling in line with DEC restrictions on this property would have been exhorbitant. And if you haven't noticed, folks with that kind of dinero, don't spend it in Riverside. This property never would have sold to anyone who did their research." Jan 29, 12 7:48 PM

It is not at all pertinent. The CPF $ comes from purchasers of property as I am sure you are well aware. It does not cost taxpayers/voters anything so there would be no real objection from the Conservative/Republican side, as there is no
Are you now seriously claiming that only the Dems are in favor of land preservation or the CPF fund at all. Because I could take you to school with that one. " Jan 30, 12 1:34 PM

TB, it was I who first proposed to you that you provide something and you not so artfully turned it around.
Let me see now, can I find where a Republican sponsored the purchase of CPF property? Well I would have to start after the Republicans first sponsored the CPF program to begin with. Then I guess for all those years when the Dems were "locked" out of town hall, it must have been the Republican who sponsored all those purchases I guess. Unless of course you can provide contradictory data?
Either way, unless you post something of any real value, the conversation has grown boring. " Jan 31, 12 1:24 PM
