New Traffic Light Coming To Hampton Bays

I get that it is your ball and you make the rules 27east, but you allow this person to make racists statements, and insult the population of Hampton Bays, and when I call him on it, you ban it?

Protesters Against Illegal Immigration Gather In Southampton On Tuesday

It has nothing to do with the history of the Town of Southampton. Nor does it have anything to do with Iraq/Afghanistan.
Reality is there are 12-15 million undocumented aliens/illegals or whatever you want to call them. They are here, and the bus is NOT coming to pick them up Saturday, like it or not. Both national parties allowed this to happen because each in their own way benefit from their being here.
But really, you think it is legitimate to kill them as they cross?

Southampton Town Bars Police Officers From Political Committees, Stiffens Penalty For Illegal Rentals

I am aware of one incident, can you tell us about the "stuffing the boardroom with blue for years"? "The Chief" was wrong in not addressing the issue then, but it is now a different Chief." May 29, 13 5:48 PM

What "journey" do you speak of PBR? Is the next step by the board to prohibit them from voting?
Or is the next step prohibiting political activity by bloggers? or non party affiliated persons? or blondes? or Irish?
There are more holes in this law than in a block of swiss cheese." May 29, 13 5:51 PM

No doubt, but in all candor, what is the "journey"?

Have to go with Nature on this one. There is NO way you pay $6,000.00 per year in Town of Southampton taxes, unless you home is worth millions.
If you "sometimes" have a party group" are you there to ensure that "no one leaves drunk"? Doubtful
And that first line.......what a crock of horse dung! Code enforcement works out of the Public Safety Bldg in Hampton bays. 4 or 5 Code Enforcement Officers, a secretary, and a boss.
Get over yourself. " May 31, 13 4:46 PM

Thanks for the explanation of where "the journey" is going. Just because there are flaws in the law, is no reason to approve it without getting the kinks out first. If the goal is to prohibit ANY political activity on behalf of cops, then do so via state legislation.
It was Gov Cuomo (daddy) that signed legislation that previously prohibited cops from political activity. This law, as written would only ensure that said activity is being done behind closed doors.
A cop can still gather signatures, make donations, do all the things that committee people do, just not while occupying a titled seat in the party.Do you think he will have any less influence on polticos because he or she isn't a committee person? Much Like Gov Cuomo's "Safe Act" gun bill, that overnight turned law enforcement officers statewide into felons, because their magazine carries more than 7 rounds. An ineffective law does nothing more than pander to the public without ever attaining the goals set forth by the PR stunts politicians pull. " Jun 2, 13 12:43 PM

Firstly, I am not a Conservative. My point being that the people who frame and enact these laws should cross T's and dot i's before it is put into place. The local law is screaming for a court case to determine if the town has authority to regulate the political activity of anyone, specifically law enforcement. I believe it to be a state issue. I am not looking for perfection, a bit too old to believe in that crap.
Are you unable to see the numerous holes n this legislation? The ball wasn't moved, it just has spotlights and glitter on it. And the audience THINKS something substantial was done.
To compare this discussion with Lincoln and abolitionists is juvenile at best. Rather than analyze the legislation, you want to paint me as a racist. " Jun 3, 13 10:40 AM

And who would these people be? 1/2 of 70K is 35K. Do you know people who can give up their primary income to go to weekday meetings, rubber chicken dinners, ribbon cuttings etc? I'm not saying what we have as elected officials are saints or guided by any noble causes, but reality does come into play. " Jun 4, 13 11:03 AM

Tell you what, Chief. You answer the many questions I've posed to you on these threads. Cite a credible source for what you claim. And at the end of the day, if you still think you are being "bullied" or merely held accountable, you got a date. " Jun 5, 13 3:28 PM

Voters Approve Westhampton Beach Firehouse Plans

I don't live in the village, yet I was well aware, months ago of these plans. I saw it discussed here and on other blogs.
The fire district did presentations to the village board, civic groups and at the headquarters. They went beyond the requirements of the law.
To claim that "people didn't know" or that there was anything being hidden is disingenuous at best.
To attempt to claim that there was some underhandedness occurring by the nature of the vote is ignorant.
It's June, if the summer people aren't here, too bad, they rarely vote here anyway.
If you still don't like it, go out and run for Commissioner, it's open to all.
Or better yet, volunteer as a fireman.
Just quit your (not you're) whining. " Jun 7, 13 1:35 PM

Well, Sig, how many of these public hearings did you go to? Did you make your feelings known?
If you think you have any impact on anything by whining about it here, you would be wrong.
Do you realize that many of the design requirements are there by OSHA requirements?
Just how much time do you volunteer in service to your community?
I have absolutely no issues with the FD building a commercial grade kitchen, nor a gym. " Jun 10, 13 10:07 AM

Voters Approve Westhampton Beach Firehouse Plans

The story is about Westhampton Beach, not the 125 other special taxing districts. My point was that the FD went above and beyond in telling the public about this. Looking at budgets on line and whining about it here does you or anybody else, no good. If you live in the district you should have gone to the hearings and made it an issue.
When I was speaking of OSHA requirements it obviously was about the building requirements, and not the kitchen. But in all candor, $5,000.00 for a commercial grade stove probably is not out of line as it will still be in service 50 years from now when they build the next building. " Jun 11, 13 9:28 PM
