Rumor about attack in village is debunked by police

Why, Frank, because he'll hit me? Are you saying Mr. Wedell is a violent man? I agree. By the way, I HAVE told him to his face how I feel and you know what he said to me, a white-skinned American citizen of European decent who has lived her for over 25 years? He said, "Go back to where you came from." Smart man." Jul 1, 10 10:01 AM

Frank, I have attended a number of PRO-IMMIGRANT rallies here and in DC. When I did it here, the name calling came from Mr. Wedell and his misinformed, cowardly cohorts. The fact that he stands out there "all by himself" and espouses hate, bigotry and fear is not something to be admired. By the way, the first amendment applies to me as well, although you clearly wish it didn't.

Again, happy holiday and remember of on the fourth that this country was founded by immigrants who stole the land from the native inhabitants - in other words, "illegals" although, unlike you and Mr. Wedell, they were enlightened, progressive thinkers who welcomed hard working, peace loving individuals. Southampton Town planner defends Tuckahoe planned development district

Well, no sooner did I advocate for giving the supervisor a chance then someone pointed out this disturbingly, misguided quote from an April issue of Dan's Paper.

"Southampton Town Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst offered her views for this article, saying, 'The project represents a valuable and interesting metamorphosis from its original bland, strip mall-like configuration. It is also a commendable effort in heeding comment and suggestions from Town Planning Administrators as well as members of the community. The stated goal is to develop a 'Main Street-village-hub' sort of anchor, which is now lacking as part of the Tuckahoe hamlet."'

Ms. Supervisor, if your opinion has changed since April, now is the time to say so." Jul 10, 10 12:43 PM

Is it really necessary to post your comment so many times? Seriously. Your hate for Ms. Holst is a little disturbing, considering she has not been supervisor for very long and the person this article is about was there before her. What you do by acting as you do is make it about her and not the real issue. You end up sounding like an irrational enemy with your own agenda and that does not help those of us in this community who are actually trying to stop this." Jul 11, 10 8:09 PM

Suffolk County consumes record amount of water on Friday, Southampton estates lead the way

This is not "class envy", but the realization that many out here, from middle class, to upper class, are more concerned with green lawns than conservation. Just because you make your living by keeping lawns green does not make it OK to waste water. The same excuse has been used for pouring tons of harmful chemicals that seep into our water supply and it is not acceptable.

I make my living in the freelance market and the government has made it easier for the work I do to be outsourced overseas, so I must find ways to make up for the lost revenue - and I do. We must all adapt.

I would suggest that, rather than enabling your clients to be as wasteful as they choose, that you should convince them to try alternative landscaping ideas like xeriscaping. They will still need your services, but they will waste less of our precious water resources." Jul 20, 10 10:28 AM
