Southampton Town Might Now Open Different Western Beach To Four-Wheel Vehicles

So unnecessary.
Dune Rd. has sooo much beach access and there are plans to build at least one expanded parking area, in addition to one just west of Tiana that was recently completed.

You can easily stroll from beach to beach on dune rd, there is very little sand that is inaccessible. Adding vehicles will actually limit the amazing access that we have today. " Dec 21, 16 9:30 AM

But there is no need for more 4x4 access. The only need is for maintained and expanded parking facilities for all people and vehicle types so that beach access is truly expanded and protected.

Discovery Land Establishes Presence On East Quogue's Main Street

Still trying to wrap my head around the fact that DLC employees come to this comments section to argue with people. So weird, desperate, nonsensical.

What luxury buyer is going to purchase an expensive home in Spinney Hills if there is no golf course...none. This whole ruse is so transparent.

" Dec 23, 16 6:31 PM

It's not that the houses aren't nice, it's that there is not a market for houses like that w/o the golf course in this location.

I think that this comment misconstrues the issue.

We understand your passion about beach driving but maybe it's time that you look at the big picture." Dec 24, 16 10:13 AM

There's not really a point in talking with you if you're position is just (all caps) 'more 4x4 access regardless of what others think or where we put it'...

There's plenty of thoughtful local people who are willing to have actual productive conversations about beach access for all, so...good luck with you screaming." Dec 26, 16 2:04 PM

Could probably free up plenty of space at the picnic area if you got the surf camps out of there..." Dec 28, 16 12:22 PM

Dr. Gobler Says Luxury Golf Course Resort Would Leave Larger Nitrogen Footprint Than Subdivision

What is the purpose of these hearings (seriously) ?" Jan 9, 17 2:48 PM

This is a nice thought but it will be waaayyyyy too late if this project gets approved and then you/we vote out the current elected officials.

If the goal is to have this project tossed out based on the idea that it is not a benefit to the town or the environment then that information needs to continue being brought forth in a clear way." Jan 13, 17 10:40 AM

here you are again...arguing in the comments section.

Still we are faced with a project that has no public benefit." Jan 16, 17 9:31 AM

Local Residents To Make A Statement With Women's March On Washington

These comments are terrific...to those expressing the sentiment that people should not be protesting...what other rights would you like to see your fellow Americans not take advantage of?

If you don't want to protest, fine, you can remain on your couch forever.

Hope it's comfortable. " Jan 19, 17 11:39 AM

What if you cannot build the golf course, how will the designs of the homes you plan to build change, or will they?

Bingo!" Jan 21, 17 10:14 AM

So then why dont you just do this, seems like it would be a more straightforward plan, why complicate things with a golf course etc. ?" Jan 21, 17 5:43 PM

Mark H.

When I asked how your plans would change in the event that you are unable to build the golf course you said: 'The houses will be bigger and the pieces of land that they lie on will be much bigger. There is no difference in the acreage. It will be either golf course or lawns.'

So then why dont you just do this, seems like it would be a more straightforward plan, why complicate things with a golf course etc. ? " Jan 22, 17 9:54 AM

Final Public Hearing On Environmental Study Focusing On 'The Hills' Scheduled For February 7

'Once the hearing is officially closed, the Town Board will begin its review of the hundreds of comments made during the four public hearings, as well as those submitted to Town Hall in writing'

....so the town is going to consider the comments that were made by paid supporters of DLC? What a process...

'
“I think it’s been a lively exchange of thoughts,” Mr. Hissey said of the hearings. “And I think that, as we’ve seen from the last two hearings, there is pretty overwhelming support.”' - Mark. H.
...'overwhelming support'... clearly there is SOME support. Overwhelming, hardly. Unless of course we're counting the support of paid supporters.

Writers Speak Spring 2017 Series Offers Diverse Slate Of Authors

I would think that anyone interested in multiple points of view, experiences outside of their own, or those interested in learning about something that they dont know that they dont know would welcome diversity. There's probably many more 'types' who are interested in diversity.

In summary: people with depth are interested in this. " Feb 7, 17 2:24 PM

'The Hills' Debate Continues At Final Public Hearing On Environmental Impact Study

The 'support' that DLC has been speaking of has been transparent for some time. While their approach is perfectly legal, it actually shows how little support for the project there is from the community. This is a simple effort to disrupt the genuine review process, using templated letters, 'authorized' by 'residents'.

We can break it down like this:
- DLC consists of a paid group of developers, marketing people, PR people, etc. etc.
- DLC employees compose a 'support letter'
- DLC employees expose the letter (bullet points of generalized positive stuff, not necessarily true or false...basically text without context) to groups of people via mass mail, their office etc.
- 'Residents' see the letter text and agree 'yes, these general things seem good, i support them'
- DLC employees affix a name to the letter and forward to the town.

This is a tried and true 'campaign' tactic - it does not provide any true evidence of support for DLC's proposal because all context is missing and all of the 'thinking' has been done on behalf of the name affixed to the letter by someone else.

This is an attempt to subvert the genuine opinions of residents and facts surrounding the proposal. The spookiest part of this is that this tactic can work." Feb 11, 17 5:13 PM
