UPDATE: Hearing for Cellphone Antenna In Clock Tower Postponed

Ok I understand and amend, Our character. Certainly we do not want to look like Nassau County which now looks like Queens. We certainly are many times more rural than just a few miles west of here. Lets not lose the point. Which is to find creative solutions to cell towers that we do not have to view...as you cannot bury it like the LIPA line down Head of Pond Road.... " May 29, 12 7:10 PM

Tuckahoe And Southampton School Officials Discuss Exclusive Tuition Deal

What really needs to happen is these smaller feeder schools need to be closed and absorbed into the larger districts. The tax burden is great in Tuckahoe as few residents pay for the school whereby South & Westhampton is spread out over a larger areas. School taxes are the largest portion ofthe tax bills and this needs to be addressed. " Jun 10, 12 7:33 AM

Village Board Approves Sag Harbor-Greenport Ferry

Its such a great idea. Greenport is always loaded with day trippers who spend gobs of money in the boutiques and restaraunts as is Sag Harbor. The cross pollination of two very similar villages is a great thing for the business and recreation community. Parking at the schools is very smart as both are out of the villages. I cant wait to park at Pierson and boat over to Greenport for dinner. How enjoyable is that!" Jun 14, 12 7:12 AM

Plans For Septic Upgrade At Three Mile Harbor Mobile Home Park Put On Hold

Simple. Call Suffolk County Department of Health. They have to approve all systems in Suffolk County. That might get the ball rolling as youhave an obvious health hazard" Jun 15, 12 6:23 AM

Southampton Town Examines Ways To Address Substandard Private Roads

Its more than potholes. Some roads flood and flood private homes. Some roads have huge ravines in them that impead egress. Its a health and safety issue. There are handicapped, senior citizens, special needs persons that live on these roads and accessing them is difficult for school buses, community buses, ambulances, energency services etc. This is an urban blight that needs to be addressed. Cops: Air And Ground Patrol Nabs One For ATV Use In Pine Barrens

Was all that investment of taxpayers dollars really worth that? The police's time would have been better served going after countless reckless drivers on the roads. There really need to start considering the cost/benefit of some of their movements, that is unless the fine to rider is the cost of the personal and hourly rate of a helicopter....." State Supreme Court Upholds East Hampton Town Airport Master Plan

Really do not have an issue with the airport, "expanding" as it is hemmed in on all sides. What is really is the issue is the use of it with regards to residents surrounding it an din the flight path. The helicopters are ruining the quiet use and enjoyment of hundreds of millions of dollars of real estate for the sake of the few. The "tower" needs to have a proactive approach to managing noise. We call you know who they are, call them, and stop it! Should it not happen the people who are most affected need to align and "vote out" the town board people who do not represent the wishes of the people. Unfortunately we in North Sea and Noyac who are subject to apocolypse now runs of helos cannot vote them out, but will continue to complain en mass to all other representatives. Speak up and be heard at the voting booths.....Perhaps a peaceful protest at the ariport with TV reporters would get some attention!" Jul 20, 12 6:26 AM

ARB Denies MetroPCS Cell Phone Tower Application

Why dont they place it atop Village Hall? There are already antennae up there and you hardly see it." Jul 27, 12 6:27 AM

Helicopter Route Change On The Table Again

Mr Stanziones route change has ruined the quiet use and enjoyment of more than a few residents. Peple who do not live in East Hampton and arent even close to the airport! How about hundreds of homes and thousands of people! OUTRAGEOUS!!! The airport is EAST HAMPTON, NOT SOUTHAMPTON. The route should be North is: Wainscott, The Golf Course and out to sea to PLum Island then down the sound. The South Route, Georgica Pond, Atalntic Ocean. Both over East Hampton its your airport!!! These are the only accepatable routes PERIOD. If the routes arent changed we should form protests at the airport and in front of East Hampton Town Hall!!!!" Aug 22, 12 6:55 AM

Surf Camp Causes New Conflict At Picnic Area Beach

Its simple. First the camp is almost done as summer is over, but it shold now be limited to no more than 50 kids. Try that and if the complaints continue cut it down to no more than 25 a day and only once a day. I have been to busy to be there this summer however I would want my spot on the beach too" Aug 24, 12 6:15 AM

Aircraft Restricted At East Hampton Airport Due To Biden Visit

WOW If this could only happen all the time instead of having ALL the airport traffic over NORTH SEA< NOYAC ETC. Chnage the flight path MR STANZIONE!!! ITs and East Hampton Airport not SOUTHAMPTON! Oh welcome Mr Biden please enjoy your stay! PLease come back every Thursday through Sunday so that the Residents of North Sea and Noayc can have a peacefull weekend as well!" Aug 24, 12 6:20 AM

Beach Rebuilding Project Will Go To Voters In Affected Areas Of Oceanfront Southampton Town

What is interesting is that FEMA expended $14.5 billion to rebuild levies around New Orleans. The beach in Westhampton Dunes has a 30 year guarantee from Army Corp that will rebuild the dunes and beach, both at no cost to the local taxpayer. So why are we paying for this?" Sep 1, 12 2:38 PM

ZBA Approves Front-Yard Pool In Bridgehampton

Truely ashame. She is selling her property and once the pool goes in she will up the price, which is the only reason for this action. Part of zoning is looks, so now we wil have a pool in a front yard, next some one else will etc etc, so there goes the country looks of the east end. This is a really bad decision by the ZBA. Hey I want a pool in my front yard to..and a clothesline and a shed and my patio so I can bbq and watch all the neighbors go by....." Sep 22, 12 7:12 AM

Altschuler Takes A Second Shot At Congress

Well its really much simpler than that. If Altshuler wins you can forget about the East End obtaining much of anything. Bishop lives and has lineage here and does what he can for the East End. Its that simple I want people in government who are going to take care of where I live and work and our home needs.

Montauk Hotelier Drops Cesspool Rings On Beach To Protect Business From Upcoming Nor'easter

I would do everything humanly possible to save my property, with or without permits. If municipal denied me action to protect my property I would call up the insurance company and have them sue the town for the damage that could have been prevented. This is an historic time, a catastrophy, and people need to do what they gotta do to protect themselves. Once normalcy returns repair options can be debated on a more rational basis." Erosion and Hardening Shorelines Dominate Discussion at East Hampton Town Board Meeting

Growing up on the bay in North Sea, every now and then the house would flood. Nor easter with a full moon tide would do it. I remember waking up swiing my legs off the bed into a foot of ice cold sea water. It is something that stays with you forever and you feel violated. Living now 4 houses off the water, the March 2010 rains caused my yard and basement to flood with an estimated 50,000 gallons of storm water. Violated again. I have since taken measures to protect my home from that situation again. So why is that any different that waterfront property owners? I love living here and the last thing I want to see is a bulkhead, but after being victemized by flooding sea and rain water, If I owned a waterfront property I would do everything humanly possible to protect what I own.

Southampton Town Board Approves $24 Million Plan to Widen Beaches In Eastern Half Of Town

The only issue I see is that there will most likely be a storm in the next ten years, the life of the bond, that will take some of sand out to sea. So do they borrow for another ten years after each replenishment project?" Nov 28, 12 7:05 AM

Barrister's Restaurant To Close After 34 Years In Southampton Village

In Wake of Sandy Hook Massacre, Bishop Says Congress Must Seriously Address Gun Control

According to the news Adam Lanza also had a Henry repeating rifle and a pump shotgun. He could have committed the same carnage with the shotgun. So do we ban pump shotguns? Would the governer give up his shotgun? The fact that one type of firearm arm is used in a horrible crime shouldnt be singled out. As far as I am concerned Nancy Lanza, the mother, killed all those people by failing miserably as a parent and allowing her developmentaly disabled son access to firearms. I belive that Adam was probably playing a video game in his mind. What is needed in the Republic of NY is education not further regulation. NY is already one the most regulated states and another law will never prevent a perp from obtaining a weapon and will only leave citizens un armed against the cowrads that know they can do these horrible acts as already we are defenseless. In this instance education of fire arm owners to keep there guns locked up and away from developmentally diasabled persons would be a better place to start. IMHO" Dec 31, 12 7:20 AM

UPDATE: Witnesses Say Verbal Altercation Led To Alleged Assault By Retired Southampton Village Sergeant

Yes, thats what is wrong with the municipal system. While the rest of us slave away into our 60's the perks allow them to go out, start second jobs and go after another pension as some do. This is why most municipalites and states are broke. Its funding the pension system. The city of Glen Cove had a statement in Newsday that they had to issue $2 million more in bonds to cover their pension costs. When will it end and certainly this model needs to change."
