Southampton Town Board incumbent Christopher Nuzzi (R,I,C)

Chris Nuzzi listens and trys to get answers. He wants to do a good job and make everything work. Some recetnly elected retired persons need to be replaced with people who work.. " Nov 1, 09 6:45 AM

Report: Missing firearm led to inquiry; Two Westhampton Beach Police officers suspended

Whats all the fuss about. Wasnt it the mayor of WH that was shooting at a raccoon with a 38 in his backyard with NO repocussions?. Gee if a citizen did that they would have had the silver bracelets....Seems to be a double standard over there.
If they have nothng to hide an investigation will reveal that as well." Nov 6, 09 6:52 AM

Frank Ill take fathead as a compliment as it was ment right? I stand corrected deputy mayor. By the way, was the deputy mayor properly licensed to have a handgun at the time of his shooting it in the back yard?? There is noting wrong with places being investigated from time to time, it may help clean up any problems or stop them from happening in the first place. Cant wait to here the results" Nov 7, 09 6:29 AM

Longtime hopefuls finally earn wins as highway superintendent, Trustee

Start up the unimproved road program. Its time that the town charging everyone for maintenance on unimproved roads, take them into the highway system and repair them. Its taxatiion without representation and is unfair. Seek federal monies and make our roads the best there is. Its time for a change and thats why you were voted in. " Nov 7, 09 7:09 AM

Parties eye vacant Southampton Town Board seat in 2010

We need new postive people in town hall. Dan Russo was very effective in the short time that he was in office. He brought a back bone to code enforcement in shutting down the group homes and share houses. He did a good job in North Sea. My second choice would be Flemming, as she has business experience and law experience. We need a functioning cohesive town board, not old dead wood. A candidate that is by and for the people. I dont see a third choice at this point." Nov 12, 09 6:32 AM

Thats what the town needs is a business person as the town is a giant corporation with an income and expense stream. Career politicians need balance from the business community.
I dont know why Dan stopped coming maybe he was hung out to dry. Thats really not as bad as Heaney walking away from running the town for 6 weeks. That should have been litigated." Nov 13, 09 7:59 AM

Medical examiner says Reister could have recovered if chokehold had been released in time

A drunken rage and he had a rage inceident before. Obviously thgere is something wrong with this guy. Still why no one kicked him in th head or hit him with a chair toi stop it is beyond me. Just wait for the defense atty to poke holes in the prosecutors case. Its there job but I dont know how they can live with themselves with this one....." Nov 17, 09 6:30 AM

Throne-Holst budget revisions approved by Southampton Town Board

The town can also save a pile of cash by stopping the practice of hiring outside consulting firms, engineering firms to help them make a decision. The studies should be performed in house and the town board members should have thebackbone and confidence in their abilities to make the decision. I like the approach but with regards to stormwater before I float away, I hope that the engineer added to the highway department will be able to work on our vast drainage problem on the east end. The highway department should follow Suffolk COunties lead and have there own crews due the installations instead of outside contractors. This is another way to save money.. " Nov 22, 09 8:12 AM

Supreme Court lifts injunction on use of Aldrich Park

This is a land use issue that everyone is trying to turn into an immigration issue. Resolve the land use issue first then move onto the immigration issue.
For reasons unknown to me in East Hampton the day laborers assemble at the RR station. Does East Hampton have a way of doing something that Southampton does not? Our station has a covered roof and the Village can place porta potties there while the govt works on the greater immigration issue and sealing our porous borders. Until they resolve the matter here in the village, I will not permit my daughter(for safety reasons) nor do I buy anythng at 7-11. " Nov 25, 09 6:41 AM

East Hampton Village will auction Sea Spray Cottage leases

It will be interesting to see how much money it will generate. As a broker last years rental season was full of renters bidding half the rate. However the cabana use for the wealthy might just supercede it. I also dont think to be fair that unless the current tenants have a first right of refusal that they should be allowed the final bid or a chance to match it. To be fair it should be open and highest bidder and let them bid it up. Thats the only fair way to "auction"" Nov 25, 09 6:57 AM

Oddone won't take stand; both sides rest, and closing arguments slated Tuesday

Just dancing on a table. How do you know that he didnt wise mouth Reister? He seesm like that sort of punk. I wonder what Cohen would do if she were berated? SOme people are so mousey that even a raised voice shocks them. Hopefull Cohens statement will be taken with apound of salt. " Nov 26, 09 7:04 AM

Defense seeks mistrial; Judge rejects motion

This made natiional news so perphaps a trial in another country would make the defense lawyer happy! Maybe it was one of her friends planting this so she could try to use it? WHo knows but the judge did a sensible thing the jurors are supposed to stay away from the media while in trial. Just think they could have bee sequestered....." Dec 4, 09 6:33 AM

Southampton Town could vote on dark skies legislation soon

I have a new construction 1 house over. A very Nantucket style home very nice and he bought and installed these lighthouse style outward reflecting patio lights. When he turns them on they project light out to light up his rear yard which also throws light through my upper clarestory windows and paints the otherwise dark ceiling with light. If he forgets to trun them off or the maid or tenants leave them on, they wake me up and disturb my sleep cycle. I ahve asked him to chage the lens and he responded "Do you know how much these lights cost?" I responded that I used to be able to sleep through the night until he installed them. He suggested that I install shades and I aksed if he would pay for the custom shades needed for the upper windows. SInce then he makes an effort to turn them off when they go to bed but everynow and then they are left on and its like trying to sleep under the sun.
The legislation and enforcement are needed. Lights cost very little and it also costs little to have an electrician re aim them. SOme lights will need a bulb and lens change. Its about time!!!" Dec 5, 09 8:45 AM

Shinnecock Indian Nation wins preliminary federal recognition

Why shouls Connecticut get $1.5 million a day in tax revenue when most of those dollars flow off of LI on the ferries? If the Shinnecocks start gaming and can flow even a third of that into our coffers our property taxes could be effectievly wiped out. In addition the tribe could become self suffiecient which seems to be there desire and Im sure that there will be enough pressure interneally for them to police themselves should something get out of hand. Besides all that its their right that they never had. " Dec 16, 09 6:34 AM

Blizzard snarls life on the East End

I think that the Hwy dept did the best they could with what happened. I dont know about the rest of the town but the Noyac and North Sea crews work very hard all the time. There is simply to much to do and not enough of the them. Now that leadership is changing perhaps the hwy dept will run more efficiently with less favoritism. A purge has been a long time coming. The town has grown and the hwy dept needs to grow with it." Dec 24, 09 7:07 AM

Southampton Town analyst says proposed wind turbine would harm environment

Im sorry but I dont buy this. Bats have internal radar and fly around in crazy patterns avoiding everything. I also dont think that they make much audable noise unless your right under it. The issue is simply astethics and while I applaud the idea of anyone other than LIPA generating electricty, this would be an eyesore on the coast. No I dont live there but I wouldnt want them scatterred along the shore once this precedent is set. They belong high up on a hill. For the amount of money they are spending on a windmill, why not install quiet and unobtrusive solar electric panels?" Dec 24, 09 7:18 AM

Shinnecock casino prospects rekindle Riverhead land speculation

It should be done. Why should Connecticut get our money! The amount of taxes generated will reduce every suffolk county tax bill by making direct payments to the schools. Riverhead should get way behind this considering that almost no commercial properties along rte 58 pay ay kind of real taxes. Dont blow it, open the doors to them." Jan 4, 10 12:59 PM

Southampton Town works out departmental changes

The recycle center needs its own management as waste is a big issue now however the pay is excessive. In fact its above Town Council pay. The paythere should be performance based and if DeMaria can turn a profit then he could get a bonus over base salary. The base should be $60,000 not $107,000!!!!" Jan 12, 10 7:53 AM

Former Southampton Supervisor Linda Kabot writes to state comptroller about maladministration

Why didnt she write the letter when she was the supervisor? Unbelievable sour grapes and failure to take responsability for ones own actions, or lack thereof. Change has come....finally" Jan 14, 10 7:53 AM

Suffolk County announces handgun buy-back program

I think its a great idea but will only work so well as many people will not go into a police dept. It would be more successful if held on some neutral location like a church or community center." Jan 26, 10 6:56 AM
