Empire and Alliance resume attacks as hospitals remain without contract

Razza, I agree with you completely. There are people here that post on dozens of subjects, they think they are smarter than everyone else and know it all. Politics, health insurance, education, immigration (a really big one) they have all the facts and if you disagree you are a Fox lunatic and they collectively try to shut you up. What kind of crap is that to tell someone that they are immune to reason and knowledge and need to seek wisdom???? Well sorry, we're not all as high and mighty as noah! They post under more than one user name. They claim to be liberal, but if you have a differing opinion you are belittled and insulted, hardly a liberal thing to do. One thing for sure, if health care will be paid for by the premiums, as peoplefirst believes, the premiums will be pretty high or the taxpayers will indeed be footing the bill. Hospitals are barely surviving and will not be lowering their rates any time soon. And Noah Way, you talk about doctors inflating their rates...it doesn't matter if they charge $50 for a checkup or $500, there is a payment schedule that is followed, a set amount paid by each insurance company for each procedure. Inflating their rates will do nothing and if they are billing for services not performed, it's fraud. I don't make this stuff up and shoot from the hip. Have no doubt, government insurance WILL be taxpayer subsidized, we will have to deal with that for at least the next few years. When citizens get tired of paying for it, they will vote the liberals out the same way the republicans got voted out when citizens got tired of their policies. It's a never-ending cycle and keeps our country in check. While liberals insist that they be given the choice and others should get out of their way, well, that's fine, I'll get out of the way, so long as I don't have to pay their bill!" Southampton Town supervisor candidates verbally spar over youth programs, affordable housing in Flanders

Turkey Bridge is posting the same exact statement about lawn signs on every comment section of dozens of articles. Does anyone really think these lawn signs help any of these candidates get elected? Just a waste of money and an eye sore. If there truly are any "sign dogs" out there, as he says, please get rid of the rest of them, including the life size ones that say "vote for me, I'm attractive"!" Oct 30, 09 11:02 PM

Southampton Town Supervisor incumbent Linda Kabot (R)

FCM, will you also stop pushing your left wing liberal agenda on 27east after you cancel your subscription????" Oct 30, 09 11:28 PM

Kabot's court date is pushed back to December

Many (not all) endorsements by individual special interest groups and unions are given because they believe that the election (or non election) of particuar candidates will benefit them alone, with little if any consideration to what is best for Southampton Town. In addition, the fact that Linda is not wholeheartedly supported by the Republicans or the Conservatives only means she is not just a partisan player. That is a good thing.
I'm an independent, I am voting one and one, dem and repub, because I feel the candidates I am choosing are honest, knowledgable, have the best interest of our town at heart and most importantly not up for sale.
ATH supporters will surely find some reason to say I'm wrong....go ahead." Oct 31, 09 11:54 PM

It wasn't opportunistic. She put the town before the party. There is very little glory as supervisor, it's a thankless job. Linda knew this going in, she's not naive." Nov 1, 09 8:04 AM

Supreme Court lifts injunction on use of Aldrich Park

Thank you Bob for being one of the few calm, rational, voices of reason. Maybe you can you go over to the article about the lady who took the pictures outside Gabreski (Nancy Genovese) and inject some calmness over there also. It's many of the same people who post here, but with opposing views of how constitutional law should be applied than what they argue here.
I don't mind the anonymous postings on this site, I think it makes the argument so much more interesting and fun! It allows people to be honest while setting aside political correctness." Nov 29, 09 8:50 PM

Apparently American citizens ARE joining the day laborer ranks, this news article was online just today.

Southampton School District Denies Press's Appeal Of Decision Not To Release Findings Of Investigation

Meanwhile (sorry, a little off topic), Monday (May 8th) there is Tuckahoe Budget Hearing at 7:30 pm, where they will be discussing a proposition on the May ballot to sign a 5 year contract to send Tuckahoe students to Southampton High School exclusively. Usually it's decided year by year." May 8, 16 8:09 PM

UPDATE: Southampton School Board Does Not Plan To Revisit Columbus Holiday Name Change At Next Meeting

Seriously...just cancel the holiday and hold a school day in it's place. As it is, there are only 165 INSTRUCTIONAL DAYS in the 2016/2017 year in our High School...yes, that's right, pull out the calendar and count 'em up. Most kids were off last week for mid terms, with many students only appearing for a couple of exams all week because many teachers gave their mid terms in class (as they should). From the 165 instructional days, take away the delayed openings for an inch or more of snow, and days the school closes completely for 4" or more of snow, so it's really even less than that. There's also the half days kids moving up can come visit, so even less. Oh then there's the 10th period, where kids can go every day when they need extra help, which is great...this year, 10th period was cancelled for students on all Fridays, so they're losing out another 20% of "extra help" time. SMH. Stop with the nonsense, the political correctness, and start teaching these kids more already!

This also doesn't include the endless "instructional time" watching movies, which includes, but is not limited to, the Caitlin Jenner interview." Jan 30, 17 11:16 PM

Southampton School Board Approves 'Culturally Sensitive' Calendar For 2017-18 School Year

This school has gone mad. Culturally sensitive? Are we teaching our kids that mentioning a holiday is insensitive? It's not culturally insensitive to close schools on Columbus Day, but it is culturally insensitive for the school to mention it. You've got to be kidding Southampton School Board! How about you all worry more about how to improve lousy test scores and inflated grades, and less about social indoctrination. SMH.
