Environmentalists Demand Repeal Of PDD Law In Southampton Town

This PDD rhetoric is all election related and a way to push the Democratic platform. PDD legislation helps us all with the preservation of the Pine Barrens cause that is where you get the Pine Barrens Credit mechanism. We also got Stop and Shop, The Hampton Bays King Kullen/Community Center, agricultural preservation etc.
The Hills seasonal resort is WAY better than another subdivision. I want high-end tourists in the Summer who pay lots of taxes and use few resources and then go home once Summer is over. Plus the Town can also get a lot of additional benefits. I am looking forward to reading the Environmental Impact Statement that comes from the comparison of The Hills to a subdivision. Everyone should. A seasonal resort is going to be better on every count - environmental, social, economic, etc. I have no idea why anyone in our area would be arguing on behalf of the current as of rights subdivision. Makes no sense to me." Oct 9, 15 10:06 AM

Hi Crusader. So you are in favor of subdivisions instead? What do you have against a golf course? Curious...." Oct 9, 15 1:14 PM

Hello Turkey Bridge. What an interesting handle! Why do you think the project is bad for the environment? Have you seen the Environmental Study that has not yet been submitted? The developer said they will develop it one way or another and the "another" is the as of right subdivision which makes no sense. In fact, anyone could go to the planning board tomorrow with a subdivision plan and maybe they could apply for additional density with affordable housing in the subdivision. I am waiting to read the study. If it is seasonal with high-tech systems, it will be a lot better for the environment than subdivisions. Can't wait to read it!

Thanks Turkey Bridge. Well I look forward to seeing what everyone has to say once the Environmental Study comes out. I am looking forward to reading it.

Hi Turkey Bridge. If you read the PDD application at the Southampton Town website, the owner for the largest pieces of property in the PDD is Discovery Land Company. They appear to be in contract or some other formal connection with the current owners of the smaller Kracke and Parlato pieces, based on their inclusion in the PDD application. I think Galaxie is right that something will get built there. " Oct 10, 15 1:00 PM

Richard Yastrzemski And Julie Lofstad To Face Off For Open Southampton Town Board Seat

Hi Crusader. I have two questions for you. 1. How does Schneiderman think it can be preserved? 2. What do you mean when you say Lofstad is open minded on "The Hills" project? " Dec 12, 15 8:13 PM

Second Hearing On 'Hills' Application Gets Rowdy

There is absolutely no reason for this kind of disrespectful behavior. The supporters in the audience did not boo or yell or do anything to try to diminish what the few opponents had to say. But many people speaking in support were interrupted by those who oppose the proposal. I hope Mr. Algieri apologizes to Ms. Daddino. He got in her face. He was yelling and pointing his finger in her face. He was carrying a strange stick and hovering behind the speakers most of the night. Anyone who knows her knows that Maria does not lie. She is a very respected community member who writes the community notes column for East Quogue in the Southampton Press every week. It was Mr. Algieri who continues to spread misinformation. And apparently, he promotes this type of bullying and disrespectful behavior by his own example and by his defense of the bad behavior. Proponents of The Hills aren't lying. The opponents just don't like the facts that the resort can improve area water quality, protect the school and support the community. And for anyone who is curious, there are 139 homes currently in Southampton Pines contributing about 50 children into the school district. If you fact check whatever Mr. Algieri says, you will find misinformation, every time. You can also look back over the years and he seems to be against EVERYTHING. He blocked the EQFD from getting access to the furthest roads in Shinnecock Shores through his subdivision, endangering the lives and property of his neighbors. He also blocked a memorial for victims of 9-11 in the EQ Park. I am sure there are many other stories of him being against positive things for the community. Hoping some one can give him a job somewhere so he can do something more useful for himself and the community. We don't need his bullying any more." Dec 7, 16 12:01 PM

Hello Taz. I guess you were not at the meeting. There was a lovely woman who spent part of her 83rd birthday party at the meeting and she had a walking stick. The stick I was referring to was the one that Mr. Algieri was wielding all night. I have never seen him use a walking stick before. As for me, I devote a lot of time to my community and volunteer at the schools, the wildlife refuge, the animal shelter and other events. How about you? And sir/mam, I am not a bully. Never have been, never will be. But I will call out a bully and Mr. Algieri, who may indeed do good things for someone, does a lot of negative things and he bullied dear Maria Daddino at the meeting.

Hi Taz. You can't avoid it. Mr. Algieri bullied Maria Daddino. Please don't try to defend his actions. " Dec 7, 16 1:21 PM

Wow. So are you saying that it is OK for her to be bullied and yelled at because she has a different opinion than others? That does not sound right. And to suggest that Maria Daddino "outright lied to garner sympathy" is ridiculous. She was put into tears at the meeting by someone yelling in her face for respectfully voicing her opinion. Come on. Let's show some common courtesy and decency.

Not sure about your bar stints but I can see that you are an opponent, which does not diminish your credibility. Just because I value my credibility, I said there were "few" because relatively speaking, there were few speakers -- you are probably right that there were about 30 opponents who spoke -- about half of which spoke for the second time. So maybe 15 or 16 were new to speak about the proposal compared to 45 or 50 who spoke in favor of the Hills for the first time in the proceedings. In any event, happy to support local, positive dialogue. I posted primarily because I think we need to be civil and respectful of one another. Happy to engage with anyone under those conditions. PS I think Mark Hissey is a credible person. He certainly is a very nice guy with a good track record from Sebonack. Have fun in those rowdy bars!
