Jury now deliberating in Oddone trial

I do believe friend4life's heart and thoughts are in the right place. They have been in support of their friend, as any one of us would do, yet they know the tragedy the Reister family has been burdened with. I don't think friend has said anything biased one way or the other. When they say "god bless everyone thats involved" I believe they are acknowledging the tragic events to everyone and not just directing this to Tony. Friend understands their friend will suffer once the jury reaches their verdict, but I think they also know, although Tony may not have intended to kill Andrew, the punishment may be deserved. Friend, you're the only one with common sense on this board and yes, the situation is hard for all involved. You have pointed this out for both sides. Thank you." Dec 3, 09 10:09 AM

Dude, sorry to say, but that's Homer Simpson! But still, you're right, nuff said!" Dec 4, 09 9:18 AM

Defense seeks mistrial; Judge rejects motion

Friend4life, not sure if you read my post on the previous article, but I think you are doing what any friend would do, which includes anyone interested in this case. You've stood by your friend and have acknowledge the tragedy the Reister family has had to endure. You have never been biased one way or the other and wish the best for EVERYONE that was involved. Like I said, your heart seems to be in the right place and if your friend is found guilty, well, he's lucky to have a friend like you who cares for him as well as the Reisters. Not once have you bashed anyone in your posts rather you spoke your mind. Once again, you speak with common sense and not just idiotic banter that is skewed towards one party or the other." I can not agree/disagree with any of the above as I did not know Tony. I knew Andrew just from being the same age and living in the next town over, so through school and sports I got to know him and we would run into one another every so often in town and exchange hellos. It was always pleasant and he always had a smile on his face. As I stated, I can't disagree with your friendship with Tony and won't throw stones as so many do.
I do however agree with you that it was a terrible tragedy for both Andrew and Tony. It just seems it was the wrong place at the wrong time for both of these men. I hope as Tony's friend, you will be there for him as you have stated he has always been there for you. I'm not sure which way the jury will vote, but guilty or innocent, Tony will need your support. I also hope and know from the posts, that the Reister family has the support of many friends and the community. This entire incident has touched way too many lives in a negative way!" Jury deliberations continue in Oddone murder trial

Friend4life, it's unfortunate when you try to explain something it is either twisted or falls on deaf ears. Although Anthony may be found guilty, it is clear you will be there for him as his friend which I commend you for. I would bet my house that if any other poster on here had a friend in a similar situation, they would feel the same way. I know I have just opened myself up to the "the friends I hang with would never do this" defense, but unfortunately, it only takes a split second for something to change. HB, if your friend was driving his car, looked down and to pick up his cell phone and talk (which is illegal) and swerved killing someone on a bike, how would you feel? That one second changed many lives. I have stated this before, I knew Andrew, not Anthony but would never down talk anyone I didn't know. It was a tragic event and I am sure it is one both families will live the rest of their lives thinking about every single day whether it be spent in prison or the outside world. " Dec 7, 09 10:50 AM

It's posts like that which makes a person's true colors apparent. Very classy and good to know you two are in the same company now!" Dec 7, 09 3:32 PM

Seventh day of deliberations ends with no verdict in Oddone case

Honestly, I don't care if it was 2 - 3 minutes, 1 minute or 30 seconds. Whatever the amount of time, it still resulted in the death of Andrew Reister. For you to say a non-existant case is ridiculous and shallow. I think both families involved would say you are crazy for saying it is a non-existant case. I don't know where you come from or who you are, but try showing a bit of class, if not for the bloggers, but for BOTH families. You are a mockery to this forum." Dec 10, 09 12:47 PM

In trying to find intent, yes I care about the seconds/minutes. I do feel that username1 throws this information around without a care in world to the facts, which it seems she knows everyone one out there. We all know username1 is a friend of Anthony Oddone's, but please, do not think he is all together free from guilt of any of this. I'll admit, from what I have read, Mr. Reister made first contact. But to call this an attack that required self-defense, come on. I'm not saying Mr. Oddone intentionally killed Mr. Reister, but he has to be responsible for his actions. If every bouncer was killed when they made contact with a patron, well, there would be no more bouncers left." Dec 10, 09 1:45 PM

Also, in this case, everyone knows who ended the life of Andrew Reister. That Anthony Oddone choked Andrew to death is a fact known by everyone. In the two cases mentioned above, there were no witnesses or a clear cut killer as there is in this case. They are very different situations that can't be compared." Dec 11, 09 9:21 AM

username1, your thoughts are so biased it is a joke to read them. PBR has asked many times if Reister made the first "physical" contact. I would assume most, if not all, agree to this. But to say Mr. Oddone is not guilty of anything is absurd. Yes, he is your friend. Yes, you support him. But please, if you are going to offer any insight at least acknowledge your friend acted a bit irrational. You state above "an agressive assault". Please, unless you were there, you, nor I, have any clue as to what exactly happened, other than reading what is reported. And, may you never be confronted by a bouncer, because I think we all know what you would do!" Dec 11, 09 11:40 AM

I don't know, I think PBR has calmly stated facts throughout his posts. Because we don't agree or think differently does not make it right to vent our anger towards him. PBR has actually tried, rationally, to try and get some commentary going on how we would communicate if we were the jury and put our personal views aside. PBR has, all along, stated facts and has not really slanted his views one way or the other. When he asked about acknowledging Reister made the first physical contact, he was just trying to put the events in order for discussion and not name calling. Either way, it gets too heated in here with personal views/opinions and not the facts. If it's difficult here, imagine being the jurors!" Dec 11, 09 2:16 PM

Why is it that if someone doesn't come out and say Oddone should fry, you disagree with them. I didn't say Oddone was innocent at all. As a matter of fact I stated he is guilty, of what we just don't know yet. But we do have to follow the facts and not just the garble that is written in these posts. Read my earlier posts. I knew Andrew and it's a tragedy, but I wasn't there and, yes Oddone killed Andrew, but the exact reason why is all up in the air. Should Oddone be guilty, yes. I would guess it would be Man 2 or Negligent Homicide. To have gone for Murder with Intent was ridiculous in my opinion." Dec 11, 09 2:27 PM

I think you can for either the 5 secs or 1 min, but I don't think there was intent in this case. As much as Oddone is guilty, I don't think it is for intent. What's your take Sam?" Dec 11, 09 2:57 PM

Oddone sentenced to 22 years in prison

Well, it will be quite interesting now to see what Jeffrey Conroy gets sentenced to for killing Marcelo Lucero. Pretty much got the same sentence as Oddone, not guilty of Murder 2, guilty of Manslaughter 1. Sentence could be anywhere between 8 - 25 years. Let's see if the opinion that one's profession plays a role in sentencing comes to light!" Apr 19, 10 2:16 PM

'Toxic' Relationship With Parents Forces Virginia McGovern To Step Down As Southampton Varsity Softball Head Coach

Knitter, unfortunately schools even treat JV and Varsity like biddy ball. There is no competition or competitiveness and skill has become a thing of the past. Constructive criticism is seen as grounds for harassment and parents have become way too involved, not only with the coaches, but the functioning of a school's athletic program. It's not isolated to Southampton. Look on the East End at the excellent coaches who are no longer coaching. Between parents and Board of Ed members micromanaging or blackballing a coach, it has become almost impossible to coach high school teams at a competitive level. It is definitely not about putting our best team on the field." Apr 17, 17 1:18 PM

UPDATE: Susan G. Schaefer To Replace Tommy John Schiavoni On Sag Harbor School Board

Disappointed, was the appointed person the one you thought?
Funbeer, this board has been doing business behind the public's back for years. Nothing will ever change and good luck trying to change it." Jan 11, 18 5:17 PM
